Didn’t make it out today, but battled the wind and the slow fishing yesterday… From the people I talked to it was very slow for them yesterday also, but was wondering how many people made it out to pool 2 today? And if the fish were biting, and what secrets they can enlighten me with

i went out today, and for the third straight trip it was terribly slow. everyone i talked to had the same story “caught 1 or 2, very slow all day”. I’m fairly new to fishing the river in the spring, so i knew there would be some growing pains, but the bite on pool 2 right now seems just awful. I fished the community hole near the confluence for about an hour late in the afternoon today, I didn’t see one boat land a fish. I fished up towards the dam and couldn’t believe how clean the water was, I couldn’t even mark a fish though. I’ve been trying wing dams, slack water and main channel areas, with moxi’s and minnows. not much seems to work.

Thought the bite was pretty decent over the weekend. Ill try to get some photos up tomorrow.

    Mike,
How’s the water clarity, has it diminished enough yet for any sort of day bite in shallow water?
Or still a low light affair with those fish.
Hoping to get out and fish today in the rain.

Yeah that was my plan also…. Till I took my dog’s out and it’s pretty nasty out. So instead of filling the boat with the road spray and grime left over from our so called winter, I think I will be out early tomorrow!

I fished yesterday afternoon for the first time this year and only got one. Only tried a few spots and didn’t seek out any spots out of the wind so didn’t do much jig throwin…mostly upstream draggin. Could drag upstream at 0.5-1.0mph yesterday without the trolling mtr. I heard from several people on the water and at the landing that that bite was pretty tough both days. If you’re the wknd warrior like me its going to take some time. Don’t be afraid to leave the community hole is probably good advice right now.

Got out Sunday. This is my third season on p2 but I haven’t fished it as much as the croix. Anyways, we tried getting away from the community spots but zeroed elsewhere and eventually ended up at the confluence where we caught our only fish. The stories at the launch and from a buddy are that it was slow.

Thought the clarity was fair for this time of year. The after dark bite has slowed from a few weeks ago.

Just put up a quick report on the IDO reports forum.
