Went down on a catch and release only mission late this afternoon with a guy and had a good time playing in the wind, caught a real nice bunch of fish, actually caught more keepable ones then short ones, photo of one of the nicer ones and a gar, had two big girls on but failed to put either in the net fun to fight though, guess I’ll try again saturday, since the sun was out, went with a 4″ firecracker ringworm and silver gliter jig that worked better then kings ale tonight!

I hooked a big Gar last fall and that dang thing pulled harder than anything I’ve ever had on in fresh water!
We have another blizzard going here right now…

That gar sure has cool colors. And thanks for the tips.

I know exactly where you were fishing.

There’s around 50+ gar there and they are much harder to catch this time of year then a dormant flathead!

Great post Dan. After all the discussion that went on earlier, I’d like to compliment you on being a real level headed guy with a great temperment and attitude in addition to some serious fishing skils. I’d be honored to meet you some day. Keep up the good work.
