Big fish – Pool 2

I had the pleasure of jumping in Pool 2 guide Mike W’s boat yesterday afternoon … only to play netman. I had two fish right away, but the biggest was maybe 25″. Then I got to net two hawgs for Mike. The smaller one was over 10 pounds, and the bigger one was easily over the 11 pound mark. As Mike put it, “It looks like she swallowed a frying pan!” Mike will be putting up a report later today.

Not a lot of fish yesterday but its nice to connect with the right ones. White moxies where the ticket on these gals out on the end of a wingdam. Fantastic fish. Both are back swimming and from the looks of their bellies soon on their way to the spawning grounds.

Hope to get another scouting trip or two in this weekend and about the time the warm weather moves in next week will be booking guide trips. Give me a call or pm if you have any questions about a trip.

I love how the second fish make the bait on its lip look like a mini-moxie.

The picture of the big one doesn’t look it, but it wasn’t quite dark when Mike landed her. The water doesn’t have a ton of mud in it yet, but fish don’t seem to be very active after dark anymore.

Didnt have the scale with. It was one of those trips many thing did not start out right. Left he control for the trolling motor in the truck, no power to the gps/depth finder, rain got in under my boat cover and soaked my bibs, 1st rod I grabbed had no line on it (forgot it was spooled on the last trip), second rod had a huge birds nest going so had to calmly respool while john hauled in the 1st couple walleyes. Sure had all the makings of one of those trips. Was able to work threw all of it and as you can see it turned out very well.

My guess would be the smaller one at 10#s and the larger at 11+. The scale was left in the truck to. Working this afternoon on getting rods re-spooled and the boat organized again for up coming trips. Looking forward to some very fun trips in the next few weeks.

Great fish and pictures guys. Those nights where everything is going wrong can turn around quick out there for a guy. The picture of the release looks great too.
