Went on a ride along this afternoon, first time in two years I wasn’t running the boat, got on some nice fish but with all that wind it was hard to stay on them, still had alot of fun and it was just nice not having to run the motor 5/16 silver glitterjig green pepper paddletails

I know what you mean…it is an out-of-body experience to ride-along and have someone else drive the boat.

Good to hear the wind didn’t kick your butt. In the wind it’s go heavy or go home!

I fought the wind today by myself and man was that a pain although I did manage some nice eaters and 3 hogs. First fish in the boat was a 26 incher and a 27 followed by 3 eaters and then bang the biggun hit….all 29 inches of her. This is by far the best year I have ever had on P4. All the piggies were returned home to fight some one else in the future. Great day on the water and even better to launch out of Everts again. And no BK did not help me park my truck… The other guy would have….

Where the heck is the like button Stuart!

I spoke with a few folks on Saturday and Sunday.

One fella had a bunch of small snaugers from the scour hole. He had two limits and he said he kept everyone he caught no matter what size. I thought that was cool.

Another guy was trolling three ways with pro blue ringworms and had 4 keepers. He was a happy camper. Someone at 4Seasons gave him that tip.

It seemed like there were more fish boated when trolling three ways than vertical jigging, but it might have been just that I talked to more people using three ways. (at slow speeds)

I was just trying to have some fun but it seems that I have pissed everybody off in the process. So maybe its time for me to lay low and let the dust settle. This has my thoughts of participating in the FYB quite questionable. Not sure what to do here except to just shut up and take my punches like a man.

Seems this whole forum needs to lighten up and get back to sharing fishing info.

See you down by the river with your cowbells Joe!

Come on guys, listen to yourselves.

Enough is enough. The river walleye forum is starting to read like a bad soap opera – give it a rest.

Let’s go back to what makes these forums great, stay on track and communicate rationally. I’m sick of this on-going trash talk, it gets old real fast.

The development of an internet fishermen.

    * ^Oh, look a fishing website^
    * ^These guys are catching nice fish and seem to know each other^
    * ^I want to be part of this^
    * -registers for website-
    * “Hey guys, I’m new to bod of water X. Any advice for a newbie”
    * “Hey guys, I gave it a try at body of water X. Buddy caught 1 fish and that was it, but we will be back. Any more tips?”
    * “Hey guys made it to body of water X again this weekend. Bite was slow, but we managed 2 eaters. Probably try again in a week. Any advice for a newbie? I don’t want honey holes, just trying to learn the water”

    * -This continues for about a month-
    * “Finally made it back to body of water X and hit a good bite. – Insert picture of qualty fish (CPR’d of course) –
    * “nice fish” “congrats” “looks like a great time”
    * ^Oh man this is great, these random guys I met on the internet really like me now, I must be part of their circle.^

    * 2 weeks later a new guy comes on board looking for advice and the last new guy throws in smart a$$ comment because he is part of the “old guard” and can’t believe someone would come on here and just ask for free advice…scoff.

I think some have a bad case of cabin fever. Or maybe it’s just that time of the month. But you are right, Pete, it’s getting old.
Almost as bad as when the Vikings/Packers fans get after it.
A few warm days and open water will cure their problem.

Personally I think this is far worse than the football fans giving each other a little bit of grief.

I personally couldn’t eat a fish from the Ole Miss, but that is just me. I think we have given Dan enough advice and Dan needs to quit stirring the pot…

I agree with Pete!!! Enough said from this corner of the world. Time to shovel some more snow!!!

Thanks Pete. It never ceases to amaze me how guys that are absolute great guys in person turn into bickering hens when you put them in front of a keyboard.

Be good to each other. Be helpful. Be kind. After all, we have much in common and even more to share and learn from each other. Or be silent.

    Walleye Ben,
I am one of the new guys and noticed no one took the time to answer your question.

The vast majority of people catching fish are dragging jigs with either ringworms, paddle tails, moxis, etc. The Wisconsin shore line is good from Evert’s all the way to the dam. Most people are dragging upstream very slow, just enough to make progress. You can also catch fish draggin down stream, just faster than the current and cover more water to find active fish.
The dam area is not the only place to catch fish. We caught some nice fish at the head of the lake a couple weeks ago. Only eight boats fishing there. Probably just gave out a secret!

When you see pictures of mostly saugers they are likely coming from 14′ to 20′ plus. If you want walleyes start looking for active fish around 14′ and shallower, this changes but if you are catching saugers MOST times the walleyes will be shallower. They move shallower on cloudy days and at night with the clear water. If you notice most all of the big walleye are caught after dark and shallow. I am not an expert, not a guide and new to IDO. Just trying to offer you some advice on what I have seen.

I suspect that the FYB looming in the very near future is the reason nobody is talking.
