First time making a report post so ill try to cross my t’s and dot my I’s the best i can. Finally got in gear to put a post of the last couple trips out in the last week. The conditions have been favoring the fishing much better than the previous two years, so with that comes some great days on the water. Got to spend a few days on the water this week and the fishing is simply much better than expected for the time of year with multiple big fish caught and some awesome action oriented days, even with the wind! Most fish fell to the usual winter method of pitching or dragging plastics. colors varied day to day, but consistently caught fish in depths between 12-17 fow along with focusing my searches on sand. The water has changed in just the last couple days to some dirtier water, which in turn made the day bite awesome! This year has shown a great year class of 24-26″ fish with multiple 4-8 lb fish every outing. with two fish tippin the scale at 9.0 lbs. 9.3 lbs. 3 of which personal bests along with my own PB of 29″ 11.25 lbs. All fish over 20″ range including all big gals were CPR’d and still swimming!!!!! I will attempt to put up some fish pics… hopefully they come up! and hopefully I get myself into gear to put up a couple more posts mid week or into next weekend.
    til then good fishin!

Here’s a few more from pool 5 on Saturday. First fish 22″ and the biggest fish of the day was 28 1/2″ 9 lbs 12oz. Wish I had more time to fish like Jeremy.

Hey, Jeremy, do you know the Lodermeiers out on the Float? They will be opening in a couple of weeks. Former students & neighbors of mine in Goodhue. Good people, but you never heard that from me! Good luck in your venture! Ed

IDK for sure if West Newton is open. ? I would imagine it is. I fished the mouth of west newton the othr day and dont recall any ice in site? You may want to call Shorty at Shorty’s bait shop in Kellog. He will likely give you a firm answere!
