So, the question is
If somebody posts on here several times over a few week period with pictures of fish lined up on the ground that are being taken home without mention who’s they are, who caught them, whether they were guide clients or not. Are we supposed to give everybody the benefit of the doubt and assume that they’re guides?
When most guides post they make mention of their clients or at least that they were out with clients. That alone in my book is enough to make me think that the guide is out harvesting fish ethically and legally.
If I post pictures several times in a few weeks of limits of fish I fully expect that to be questioned, I think it’s reasonable. I won’t call Dan a liar because I have no reason to think he is. I just hope what comes out of this is a reasonable set of expectations.
It hurts nothing to mention that you had clients out, and actually adds to your credibility.
I haven’t seen anybody on this site get on other guides who take pics of their clients with fish, or mention that they had clients out. It also shows that you’re busy and doing this on a regular basis so you are the service to use.
And if somebody wants to consume hundreds of fish, it’s fine as long as they’re within the law. That being said, most people on sites like this don’t do that and are offended when it appears that somebody else is doing just that. The reports are great, pics are great, but in this day and age everybody should know that you’re going to get blasted unless you clarify what was going on.
There’s also a big difference between saying you were out with two buddies and kept 18 fish on four out of five nights, and doing the same with guide clients. We may have jumped down somebody’s throat, hopefully everybody has a better understanding now of how to prevent this from happening again.
