This video was taken more toward the MN side of the scour hole. The video in 19 feet of water was taken closer to shore, but I can’t really say where.

I left some fish-less video in this clip just to show how different the bottom of the scour hole looks in different areas.

I think most people think it’s all rock down there…guess what!?

I just hope everybody realizes how much damage it does to pull fish out of those depths. No matter how slow a fish is reeled in, it’ll almost certainly have air bladder issues, and likely suffer a delayed death.

It is impressive to see how many are down there though.

sweet video it just shows you that when you are vertical jigging you dont need to rip the bait way off the bottom since a lot of those fish were right on the bottom. just an observation

and you also have to trust your insticnts that fish are there..theres little or no way a graph is going to pick up those fish that tight to the bottom..maybe down imaging technology but not sonar though

    Thanks Marshall,

I was just coming back here to post that same caution.

Catching fish in those depths (over 25′) according to the DNR studies will cause almost certain death. If you do fish these deep fish, keep everyone.

    Our eagles are fat enough.

I thihnk I am still amazed at the water temp reading upper 38’s. Haven’t payed much attention to your temp readings on previous videos, but does it get much colder in these depths winter is actually a winter?

Wes, Jesse and I shot some video about 6 miles down stream the same day about an hour before this was taken. The temp there was 33.x degrees.

The warm water discharge may be involved in the 38 degree reading to some extent.

Cool Brian. What camera (marcum model) were you using there? I’m still hoping to get one.. just a matter of models and the $.

Seems like when you got into the walleye in the shallower water, they were less likely to be just laying on the bottom.

What were some of the larger silver fish, suckers or ??

And that thing with the wiskers, bet that was the real sight you were looking for ha….

    Thanks for sharing!

It was the VS-825sd Cycle Fella.

Good observations and those were suckers.

Took us all day to find ONE good fish.

Otis, I seem to remember reading that water is most dense when it’s at 39 degrees. It would make sense that the very bottom of the river is around that temp.

When reading those temps at that depth do you remember what the surface temps where? My last few trips out on pool 2 I have been seeing surface temps just below 32 degrees.

As long as there’s visibility in the water…it will!

    Congrats Glenn!

In the end at 19.5 feet we were anchored.

Through most of the video we were drifting down stream.

    How’s that Dan?

I said those things in jest, but after rereading them, the humor might not have come across the typed word.
