sorry I dont have any pix.. I was too busy fishing my a$$ off…. 4 of us caught only 4 keepers for the day…. it was VERY tough… totally scattered on what they were caught on and where… no patterns emerged at all… (except it was darn tough!)…. 3 of the 4 were walleyes… its like the saugers just dissappeared (for us)… caught about the same # of walleyes as normal… just almost NO Saugers….. dont know whats up with that…
caught 2 fish up by the dam, 1 at the y, and 1 at hay creek…. tried numerous places, numerous plastics and hair jigs… they just seemed to bite on whatever you were using on the rare occasion you found one that wanted to bite… they hits were very light….. we had no minnows… but I did not seen ANYONE doing much of anything…

My folks were there all day, same story for them.

They are not the run and gun type, and I’d bet they never left the dam area. But they still fished all day for one fish!

Will try tomorrow but it is coin to be a coin toss between Redwing and Alma come sun-up.

Is the water still coming up? What’s the forecast for stabilization?
The ‘Croix has come up substantially in the last couple of days.
Some say a tough bite and others are hauling up the 9 to 13 lb’ers. Fickle to say the least.

I was out all day on Friday. 1 under sized sauger to show for it. There were a ton of boats out on pool 4 and from what I saw very few keepers were boated by anyone. Still it was nice to be back on the river but the fishing amounted to a slow waltz with the other boats. I did see one nice fish caught at around 4:00PM.

actually I thought we did fairly well on fri.My partner and I boated 6 fish between 18 & 23 inches and some smaller ones.I lost 2 at the boat trying to hoist them over the side.[wait for the net].We each got carp over 10 lbs so we were able to say we released 2 10 lbers. Not a bad day for less than 4 hrs on the water. The weather was great and the company was too.

Hi yellowdog, how you doing buddy?

Were you fishing pool 5 Friday? After fishing , or as said above slow dancing, with all the boats on pool 4 Saturday I really wished I had gone to Alma instead. Saturday evening if it is decent weather I am comming to Alma for the night bite.

i agree with you on tough bite! a buddy and i were on the river also from 10 to 4, caught 6 keepers,5 over 17″ walleyes and on sauger and let one big sauger full of eyes go, but was slow, caught a few up by damm, down by wing dam, and caught a few more by vermillion river outlet-jig and minnow. went down Sunday with wife and kid, and only caught 3 keepers, tried same areas-slow!! but always fun!!

Fished yesterday near the Dam. we Managed four fish. Lost a nice one at the boat. A great day for fishing. We tried fishing up at the dam, but decided it wasn’t worth fighting all the traffic! Will try again Saturday if the weather isn’t too bad!
