Walleye/sauger bite on poo 14

I am curious if anyone has been out fishing the tailwaters on pool 14 this week. The river stage and flow has jumped up quite a bit. I fished the tailwaters on Saturday and the bite was not very good. I fished the flat and the pocket on the Iowa side and caught 9 or 10 sauger in the 12-15 inch range. I landed just 1 walleye that was 17″. All of my fish were caught on ringworms. Most guys were jigging/pitching jig/minnow combos or trolling 3-ways with minnows. I didn’t see many quality fish caught on Saturday. I also tried pitching some riprap downriver without any success. From what I heard the fish were biting well throughtout last week until the river jumped up and all of the gates were opened on Saturday. Of course, I was on vacation in the Dominican during the good bite during the week. Anyway, I was just curious if the bite has become even tougher this week because of the rising water and strong increase in flow. I am thinking about giving it a try on Friday p.m. Thanks for any info.

We spent around 8 hours out there yesterday and had 9 saugers for the dinner table. It was a really slow bite with the water going up so fast. At times a rattle on the jig seemed to help the fish find the jigs we were using. All in all it was a good day to be out on the water. It was still better than working, which is what I’m doing today

Thanks for the info TommyT. I know the fishing will probably be tough today, but I’m going to give it a shot anyway. Just have to get on the water. I will post on how I do.
