First off, I have to thank Joel (aka drewsdad) for fishing with me last night! I never would have had the confidence to stick to that gameplan the way you had us working last night.
If anyone gets the chance to fish with Joel, jump at the chance!
The report… we caught walleye!! It’s about that simple. The majority of fish were in the 16-19″ class with the three exceptions above.
They came in reverse order. The third one pictured (27.5″) was the first fish to the boat. But we worked a wingdam for nearly 30 minutes to get her. These pictures don’t do justice to these fish. They have had the feedbags on and are extremely thick (fat). We conservatively put that fish at 9 lbs. The first one hammered a firecracker/chart tail ringie.
In addition to pitching wingdams, we also dragged. The 22″ pictured in the middle fell to a chart/blue sparkle (im sure this isn’t the proper color name) ringie in 9 fow.
The last fish to come to the boat and the 1st pictured, my #2 walleye of my lifetime, crushed the same chart/sparkle ringie off a wingdam. 28.5″ but easily 11 lbs had me wishing I had my digital scale along for the trip. I’ve had one bigger, back in ’87 at 31″ and 12.4 lbs. I really wish I had that scale last night. oh well. That was a blast landing that one!!
These fish were just crushing the baits and inhaling the jigs.
Fun night of fishing with you Joel! Was snowing as we got off the water.
Sorry again for the battery troubles I had!!!
