First off, I have to thank Joel (aka drewsdad) for fishing with me last night! I never would have had the confidence to stick to that gameplan the way you had us working last night.

If anyone gets the chance to fish with Joel, jump at the chance!

The report… we caught walleye!! It’s about that simple. The majority of fish were in the 16-19″ class with the three exceptions above.

They came in reverse order. The third one pictured (27.5″) was the first fish to the boat. But we worked a wingdam for nearly 30 minutes to get her. These pictures don’t do justice to these fish. They have had the feedbags on and are extremely thick (fat). We conservatively put that fish at 9 lbs. The first one hammered a firecracker/chart tail ringie.

In addition to pitching wingdams, we also dragged. The 22″ pictured in the middle fell to a chart/blue sparkle (im sure this isn’t the proper color name) ringie in 9 fow.

The last fish to come to the boat and the 1st pictured, my #2 walleye of my lifetime, crushed the same chart/sparkle ringie off a wingdam. 28.5″ but easily 11 lbs had me wishing I had my digital scale along for the trip. I’ve had one bigger, back in ’87 at 31″ and 12.4 lbs. I really wish I had that scale last night. oh well. That was a blast landing that one!!

These fish were just crushing the baits and inhaling the jigs.

Fun night of fishing with you Joel! Was snowing as we got off the water.

Sorry again for the battery troubles I had!!!

I know that spot. There is a vortex that blurrs all camera shots taken there! Nice fish. And the photos do indeed do justice.

Didn’t you let DD catch ANY? Sound like a sturgeon trip I was on with you.

DD caught fish BK, but I had the hot big-fish hand!

None of these spots are secret JJ, I’ve fished them all before myself, even in my limited P2 experience. It makes a huge difference to be there with someone who’s done it before and indicates that if we stick to the plan, it will work out.

I would have pulled the plug on that first spot earlier, switched presentations often and probably not caught any decent fish, if any at all.

Hey Eric! It was great fishing with you. And thanks for the kind words. I was ready to pull the plug on that first spot too when you hooked that 27.5″ and the 28.5 you caught later was the fattest walleye I’ve ever seen. That girl had some serious girth issues. I just had one of those nights last night. I had a tanker on and lost it and missed about 7 hits. Probably not paying enough attention to details. And last night you could not fish your lures slow enough.

P2 is gonna get shut down with ice real quick here. You better get out in the next few days if you plan on going. We were pushing around some skim ice in a couple of spots last night.

Very nice fish guys. Talked to a few guys that had some very nice fish yesterday. James and I took a number of fish off that spot you guys caught the 28.5″ at. I picked up a 26.5″ there. Sure was fun driving home in the snow to.

Congrat’s you guy’s, very nice fish. Ski and I were out too but didn’t do as good as you two or Mike and James. After talking to Mike today I think we were fishing to fast. We did miss a bunch also and they seemed to be biting very short.

Nice fish Eric…We had good luck last night as well and took a couple of 27″ fish and some “smaller ones” at P2. One thing I noticed was that they wanted a very slow presentation. Gotta love those moxies and K grubs though.

I also chatted with Mike at the landing a little and he was also into fish.
