Reports are coming in from all over the Midwest that a load of sand was dumped at the WI back channel landing.

??? Coming from a guy that has never used the channel, and is relatively new to rivers. Safe to assume the markers and the opening are on the west or left side of the WI channel as you would be heading up to the dam, and that is where the opening would be on a closing dam?

Trying to talk my buddy into a trip for Sunday if there’s a good chance there would be some parking here? It was that or the other place up river a little…. not to name it.

the closing dam is UPRIVER from the landing.

the high passage is very close to the middle.

BK reports above that someone has re-installed markers and i suspect you can trust them. as the flow recedes this level drops and this is a critical passage to all the winter fishermen who use this landing. it only drops 1/2 foot, but 6″ can cost you thousands.(worse than divorce) pass this area at idle speeds if you value your LU…

    Very safe to assume.

Personally, when I go over the closing dam (that is marked with one red and one green marker) I always trim up. Not that it’s needed but because that’s what I do any time I think there might be shallow water.

Starting at the closing dam, down stream to the bridge (just down stream of the landing) it’s a no wake zone. Keeping this in mind, you’ll be good Cycle Guy.

From the landing to the closing dam is a NO WAKE ZONE. Idle speeds are all that we should ever see anyone going in that area.

Just talked to the River Rat. He needs an ice spud to use at the landing. And there is an envelope at Mr Sippi’s for donations. He bought a snowblower to keep the parking lot clear for $616, so any donations would be appreciated.
Pm me or you can send a check made out to River Rat Randy to:

    Thanks !

When it appears that the buoys are hard to see it’s because they are full of moonshine, the more people that take a pull on their way through the higher they float and easier they are to see. If you have trouble seeing the buoys, you best not be taking a pull off them anyway!

Please be respectful of others boats and the Mr. Sippi docks.

That sign doesn’t stick out very well. I wonder if someone shouldn’t cut back some brush and make the sign more apparent.
