I haven’t heard much about super-doo’s this year. Are folks still using them? Also, with water temps rising, are the fish getting more aggressive? Is trolling three ways picking up?

A buddy and Me fished Lynxville last weekend. 2 big carp which we hoped were 50 pound walleyes, 1 sauger, 1 smallie. Tried every method known to man. Nobody was catching squat. I think they have dispersed to spawning areas and wouldn’t waste any time below the dam.

    Hey Bob B.,

Not much hitting on the superdoos over the past 2 weeks. I know they are a good bait but have been using the ringworms recently. They were working in Lynxville the other day without minnows and a 3/8 oz jig. Do you fish in Lynxville often?

    Thanks,

    JumpNDaboat,
I usually fish about once a week at Lynxville this time of year, but I have had better luck at Genoa. If the weather holds, and the debris in the water is minimal, I think I will be heading up there Friday night to pitch some ring worms and see what happens. How often do you get up there.

Fished Genoa on tuesday and Wednesday with Len Warland. Water levels rose fast on Tuesday, and with all the debris coming thru and fouling up lines, along with the occasional snow and cold, was a tough day. Worked the dam drift, as well as some downstream holes and backwaters, and zippo, except for a 15 inch eye. called it quits after 6 hrs, and went in to Falling Rock for some warmer-uppers. Wednesday, waters settled down a lot, and we got 12 eater eyes and sauger. Spent the day drifting the Iowa side below the fishing barge to the power lines, at various depths. The bite was sporadic, but Willow Cats were the better producers, tipped on hair jigs.

    Bob,

This time of year, I get up there probably probably once every 2 weeks. I live in Barneveld and fish with my father, Carl. I am pretty sure I know how you are. Your wife is Kathy and she coached my wife in volleyball when they went to state in ’99 at dville. I didn’t know that you fished the river frequently. Lynxville has been spotty when we were fishing there recently. A few fish here an there, nothing big though. you?

    Later JumpNDaBoat.

    Hey JumpNDaBoat,

Yep, THat’s my wife. I will be going up to Lynxville tonight (I think) and then latter in the weekend up to Genoa. My fishing had had great monents and real slow times this year. I have not caught a fish over 25 inches yet this year. Lynxville has been a real mystery for me this year, just no good luck. E-mail me off line or look my name up in the book and call me. I would like to chat about the river with you.

Sounds like a plan. My dad an I might head to the river tomorrow for a day of fishing. Sure beats work. Heading to the deer expo tonight thought. My dad hasn’t went this week so I didn’t get a report but heard that the river is on the rise.

Have you tried using ringworms? We picked some up and have had luck with the chartruese ones with a 3/8 oz matching jig. What has been hot for you? Have you seen better results at Genoa this year? I have heard it is a better fishery but is 30 mins up the river farther.

Ringworms have been my bread and butter for a few years. The best producer for me has been purple and white combos, with light jigs, 1/4, 5/16 with either a black head, or a glitter head. Gold or silver glitter seems to be a bit better on cloudy days, black on sunny days. I also have had luck with purple hair jigs and a purple glitter with white tail ringworm. With the river rising, I will try both the rip rap and the sand flats tonight pitching the ringworms to the shore and working them back to the boat. Likely, I will need a heavier jig with the quicker current. Maybe we could get together some time and do some ringy pitching? I may fish the float some evening next week. Would be cool to see you there.

Sounds like fun. I haven’t ever fished off the float before but always see people catching the fish. I haven’t really fished with ringworms in the past, just twisters. What is your external email address and we can keep in touch with the fishing reports in pool 9 and 10. Do you fish the river anyother time of the year? We hit lone rock quite a bit for walleyes and catfish.

    Good weekend,

e-mail = [email protected] E-mail me by 3:30 and we can share phone numbers. After that time, I will not be by a computer for a week. If I miss you, you can look up my number in the book. I will let you know how the fishing is tonight. Tomorrow looks promissing, but windy in the afternoon. Good luck to you and your dad.
    Bob.
