Only 3 eyes in the boat today but with 2 over 9 pounds we had no complaints. A nice 7 pounder from recent trip adds more proof that the time is now. Not finding the whole small hair thing necessary either as we have had big plastics crushed by the sporadic fish we have found. Fished from Colville to Lake City lately and found fish scattered but hitting aggressively when found. Kyle’s fish was his PB which, along with the 14 inch crappies, added extra excitement to the day.

I think most areas I’ve fished the past 10 days 1/8 oz would have been fine if not for the blasted wind. 3/16 has been most successful in the conditions as they have been. Pretty much all the eyes I’ve found have been in less than 12 feet but mostly towards the deeper side of that. Hair has caught some fish for us but plastics have been out producing and getting more aggressive strikes. The big shad are there whether we can see them or not as the fish that have made the livewell have been puking up 5 inchers for weeks now. Bigger profile baits are not out of step with the conditions, but as usual, best try it all and let the fish tell you.

Nice job John, maybe I’ll still find some time to get into the boat yet this fall too.
