I haven’t seen Crawler Harnesses credited as catchers in any posts lately.

Do they not work in the fall??

I was going to try them on the river I have been fishing this past few weeks.

The reason I did not was that I do not want all the rough fish that the crawlers will catch.

Typically in the fall I throw cranks or use a jig and a minnow or Gulp.

No reason the crawlers should not work when they work the rest of the season.

I didn’t try crawler harnesses this week when I was on the St Croix. But I believe they would work. There’s alot of people still pulling cranks at slower speeds and I caught some eyes drifting crawlers thru neckdown areas with a split shot swivel and plain hook at 1.2-1.5 mph. Wish I would have had a rig setup to try it. But all my harness stuff has been sitting on my table since my Jolly Roger blades arrived. Been tying spinners in my spare time.

Good Luck with that…the first three trips to upper P-4…when the bite was hot… my partner AL (a bulk bait retailer) tried pitching, jigging, rigging and trollin them…NADA! I was banging Eyes/Sauger right and left on plastics and hair…He never caught a fish…

    He finaly gave up

None of the River Gurus I know have ever found crawlers to work up near the Dam Spring/Fall (cold water),in the hot summer months, they drag wonderfully .

Good Luck…Let us know how you do

Take the back hook off and put a minnow on. I’ve caught fish in 35 degree water at dams and below. I typically don’t use crawlers much in less than 50 degree water temps, but that doesn’t mean that the idea of a harness is wrong.

Absolutely on the minnows…I would guess the harness blades would be tricky in the river currents…I am curious as to how it works for you Stu?

We didn’t get much of a chance to find out. We went 10 miles upriver and had something on that popped 10# PowerPro like sewing thread. Big cat?? Took a dark jig right at dark.

Then we popped TWO hydraulic hoses (after this ALL of my hydraulic hoses will have been replaced….) so we had a 90 minute ride back to the dock…

Long nite. So much for dinner at the Bluffs.

BUT, I did find TWO deer carcasses so the dogs are very happy…

I’ll get the isolator in, floods and two new hydaulics and write back. At least I’ve got the 10mm sockets all set out…

Crawlers on slow death rigs may have worked a time or two up by the dam in the fall
