Hit the river after work and fished until dark. I wish I could report that I found a pattern. I caught fish, in fact a lot of fish, but all I know for sure is that you need to keep moving and working hard. I caught a few of everything tonight including 5 Walleyes up to 26 inches. And another big Sheephead that was colored a dark purple, almost black. I didn’t know what it was until I had it on the surface. Chartreuse colored crankbaits and plastics both took fish. I concentrated on the tips of the wingdams that were showing a little flow. But again you anchor up, maybe a few times until you’re positionmed right, and you get one fish. Then you might as well move to the next spot.

A beautiful, quiet night on the river. I though more guys would have been out.

No picture of the Sheepie? Sounds kind of cool. You have to love fishing. You never know what you will see.

Very nice fish Steve. Was hoping to get out this afternoon but that dang work stuff got in the way. Maybe tomorrow.

Way to go Rootski! I thought that was you I saw this evening, I should have stopped to talk

I made it out this afternoon and experienced very similar results. Anything chartreuse in color seemed to take preference with white/pearl following that. A fish here and there, but couldn’t find any large concentration of walleyes. Had pretty good numbers with big fish just touching the 28” mark.

Pardon my poor photos, I’ve yet to figure out a good self-portrait setup in my boat

Nice going guys! Can’t hammer them everyday and getting a few big girls instead is alright.

Anybody been having any success after dark lately? I’m trying to make plans for this weekend and was wondering if I should spend a couple of hours on the water after sunset.

    Thanks,

I’ll answer my own question… had a good bite for about 20-30 minutes after it got pretty dark on Saturday evening. Fished for another hour after that little bit of flurry and didn’t catch another fish. Maybe it’s just me and what I’m doing, but it seems like some evenings it’s pretty dead and then it’s bam, bam, bam and just as quickly as it started, it’s over.
