Pretty slow. I have been on the water everyday for the last week. For the most part, I was getting 3-4 fish per outing. Yesterday was my best outing, belive it or not. I managed to get 9 fish… but the overall size was down a bit. All of the ones I got yesterday were in the 18-19″ range, with 2 @ 21″. Respectable fish no less… but I’m looking for the pigs.
The dam seems to be putting out some fish, but all thats being caught is really small ones. The confluence has been tough… I haven’t seen one walleye boated each time I was there. It’s geeting a good amount of pressure, usually 5-6 boats drifting through vertical jigging. My best luck has been comming south, on the wingdams. Following Steves advice from his last report, I switched up to lighter jigs. The action isn’t “hot” by any means, but you can coax a couple into nailing a ringworm.
Water temps are getting warmer… 41.5 – 43.9 was the range I found. ALOT of debris was in the water due to the rain, and yes, it’s muddied up the water a bit. Sounds like more rain over the weekend, so things look bleak for any wingdam bite in the near future. I’ve seen Steve out several times this week, I’m sure he’ll be posting a report soon.
Heres a pic from yesterday at Lilydale when I launched, just after the storm went through. The fog only got worse the further upriver you went. At the conflunce, the visibility was less than 10 ft. The was a barge parked on the MN side… he didn’t dare move with that fog.
