Hi guys. I hope to get to the River this weekend and wondering what your thoughts were on trying the stretch of river from the dam down to Red Wing vs. maybe putting in at the bottom of Red Wing and from there down toward can line etc. One any better than the other lately/by this weekend?

If I were a betting man i would go with the lower end…not saying there is no fish north ,but for numbers south will still have more fish in more areas. Casting cranks to steep rocky shorelines should start to turn on soon down there.

Cool. Thanks! I’ll try the south. Haven’t given casting cranks much try so might try that, too!

Well, it was pretty slow for me on Saturday in the Colvill area. At least for walleye. One big channel cat, nice white bass and a small sauger. All released. Talked to a few other guys out there and seemed slow for them too. I did try casting cranks at rocky shorelines and that was great – for catching smallies. No walleye using that approach, but the smallies were fun.
