The walleyes and saugers were all over the color of purple yesterday at Genoa. My two fishing buddies and I boated around 50 fish. Largest was 18 inches, but most of them ran between 15 and 17. Started out with chartreuse ringworms, with no results. As soon as the purple twister tail went on, BAM!! The bite was on!!! Has to be one of the better days on the water I have had in some time!!

Quick question for…I’m headed out for my first Miss fishing trip on Thurs. What color jig head works best w/ the purple twister, or doesn’t it matter much. Thanks for any help.

I haven’t fished the river near as much as most the folks on this site…having said that the best day, as far as numbers of fish, was using purple jigs, with minnows, at Genoa. This has to be 5 years ago now. Pretty much same time of year. We were dressing up the jig with a bit of plastic, but just a small piece of worm pushed up onto the hook shank. We used both purple & brown plastic pieces that day, with similar results.
Interesting thing is I have thrown purple in several other pools since then and never had the same reaction. Don’t know why.

BTW: As I recall we were using erie style jigs.
