The weather has not been cooperative this summer but the fish have been, to a point.

We hit the river this AM at 6 with the promise of nice weather. Well between calm spells and hard blowing winds we managed to scratch out some decent fish. It wasn’t as fast and furious as it had been, but we managed to pick up a fish here and there. Among many Sheepshead, a rock bass and two cats. We found some nice eyes.

There must have been a Mayfly hatch last night also. They were pretty thick on the water and on land.

Oh and let’s not forget the big catch of the day. A Spiny Softshell Turtle.

Let me tell you. He wouldn’t even unhook that poor turtle without a pair of pliers. It was pretty upset and snapping the heck out of that spinner, but it’s not like it’s a Snapper!
