Just got my new trailer tags…had the option of either re-upping for two years or permanent, as in forever on that trailer at twice the cost. Sounded like the State is mandating this 2 years from now, new legislation. Wish they had the same for boats, we could stop the silliness of worrying about outdated tags at this time of year.

I got the permanent tags with the boat/trailer I bought last fall. I think it’s a good thing, especially since WI has no trailer tag/license law at all!

    Quick story on this subject…….

The DMV was in transisition from the old tags. I picked up my boat and trailer from 61 Marine. Got my plates and boat tags a couple weeks later in the mail. Everything A-O-K. Then about 2 months later, I get a letter in the mail from the DMV. They say I owe additional money for the difference between the old tags and the new perm. tags. Well, all it took was one call to 61 Marine and they took care of it. They paid the additional cost and I got the new stickers in about 2 weeks! Now that’s service.

Permanent registration is nice – wish they would extend that

program to bigger trailers. I guess it’s a gross weight thing – I

inquired about same for my 4 place snowmobile trailer and

    couldn’t do it

I’m glad this is being discussed here because I got the renewal for my utility trailer and was wondering why the price had doubled. It will be nice to not have to worry about tabs anymore. Thanks guys
