I am planning of taking some time off on Friday as well as next week. Can anyone tell me how the bite is going on pool 4. Sort of like to go for numbers then maybe do some searching for some large fish. Any help would be appreciated. Of course, I will let you know how I do.

    Thanks

I was out this morning til about noon, we only caught saugers, and their size was nothing to brag about. We got 9 saugers, in 9 hours, and bites weren’t too frequent. We also did better with the live bait vs. plastics. I could get ’em interested in the ringworms, but the actual hit or bite was really tough, Either way I had a great time out there for the first open water trip of the year.

I have one further relelatin for the new season, I love my LX3 the single best investment I have ever made for fishing to date, instant feedback to see if the fish were interested, was awesome unfortunelatly we were running short of time and had to leave before I could get the perfect method down to what the fish wanted.

I also had a chance to meet Dustin and James early in the morning and they were nice enough to pass on some tips to us, the put more fish in our boat Thanks guys

I’m glad to hear your take on the LX-3. I bought one this winter and have loved it on the ice, but was wondering how it would perform on the open water. Any tricks I should keep in mind??? Looking forward to getting out and putting dinner on the table.

The bite really picked up in the afternoon. I can honestly say yesterday was probably the best day i’ve seen this spring as far as nice sized sauger. I personally saw some that were 21 inches and over 4 lbs! Huge Sauger. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t like they were jumping in the boat, just that quite a few boats coming in about an hour before sunset had 2-4 man limits of nice sized sauger. I think the fast action is just around the corner. I know there was an 11 lb walleye caught 2 days ago, and a 11.6 caught yesterday….so the big girls are starting to show up as well. Before anybody asks where the big fish were caught….I asked and all I got was a big grin and shoulder shrug from both guys. . Good Luck to all.

We’ll ideally I’d have the puck style tranducer mounted on a trolling motor, but it not being my boat or trolling motor, nor the fact I have yet to recieve my puck style transducer, I didn’t fish it that way. Sooo long story short I just tossed the ice transducer overboard and kept my line as close to it as possible, I did have a bit of trouble seeing it at times, in a large part due to boat contol over a decent current, it would also help if the cord was longer than 3 feet, but I managed. I’m was thinking I wanted a 12 degree transducer, I might need one “quite” a bit wider for the river, so I gotta look into the options there, I know they do make one with a wider beam. Once again my buddy was doubting how darn great the LX3 actually worked and again it amazed him, I told him I was seeing a lot of fish and they were following my bait, but not hitting it, he didn’t believe me until he til I shown him. He only had a LCD graph, I never realized how much I was missing before I had a flasher. I also realized that I could shoot right through the boat with a bit of water and see the bottom with some interference, that was kind of neat, I’m not sure it would work for seeing my jig but it worked for seeing the bottom.
