I’m heading up to pool 8 next weekend .I’m not asking for spots, I would just like some general info on the walleye and smallmouth bite. Are the eyes still in the back waters or sloughs, or have the made it out to the main river? Are the smallmouth in current or still holding in the backwaters? I will be fishing Thursday to Sunday. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Walleye bite is in full swing. They have been moving into the back waters slowly. I’ve been concentrating on slack water close to current. Dragging live bait ever so slowly has been the ticket. Took home six nice eaters yesterday in about 45 mins. I went out in the rain today and had a blast caught and released 4 all over 25 inches. Smallies are going strong too. Just look for typical smallmouth water. Rocky bottom and points. Most of the ones I’ve caught are already spawned out. Cover a lot of water and use a search bait like a rattle trap. Once you find them there should be more then switch to a tube.
