John and I hit the water at about 6 this morning and fished from coville park down to lake city and back. we pitched jigs, sonars, and casted cranks on several points in the river and lake which produced mostly short fish and several keepers. we also trolled cranks with lead line and long line in the lake and river, both presentations in lake and river produced fish. we caught most of our big fish on lead today we caught fish from 19′ to 6′ of water. i also caught a bonus fish while casting cranks… a 20″ brown trout!! our big fish today were a 24″ and 27″ that i caught and a 28 1/2″ john PB!! the fishing should get really good the next couple weeks we caught fish in every spot with just about every presentation usually a sign that things are getting good!! here are some pics from today good luck fishing ya’ll!!

    Nice!

I’m not sure you could enter the Brown Trout, but I think you should have fished the Bluff’s Tourney Saturday with the size of those dandies!!

I am starting to wonder with all of the browns that I have seen coming out of the Mississippi River this year if they are starting to establish a population….

    Probably not…but a guy could dream…

this is the third fish i have caught in lake pepin and i know of two others both of the other ones ended up on a wall they were both 25″ both caught in the same spot same year middle of summer and not anywhere near a trout stream. all of my trout have come within sight of trout streams so im guessing they have just migrated out into the lake from there. as for them other two…?? i dunno kinda cool to know that there are some out there to surprise us!
