Made it down to pool 2 this weekend and fish were in a good mood. Water temp was up to 58, and the walleyes were smacking nightcrawlers and minnows with the bigger fish coming on crawlers. Got a few nice ones biggest being 23″ with countless shorter fish. To bad by the time my buddy made it with his boat the bite slowed, but we managed a few more fish. Also while fishing from shore a boat comes up and casts right over my line while im jiggin and then asks “do you have a line out”. I answered him as calmly as possible. Caught a few more fish in front of them, they re-tied on a couple other stupid lures and finally left. This happens to me all the time open water or ice fishing, it wouldn’t be so bad if they were friendly about it but I’ve noticed with these spot poachers they don’t even like to make eye contact. Maybe they’ve lost their pride I don’t know.

    Nice fish!

The fish have really been poping there. I’ve been down there a lot the last few weeks with good success.

nice job on the fish .i hate when people are that inconsiderate. they have the whole river to fish and they want to move in on you so you cant cast . I have no problems tell them just how i feel and accidently dinging a jig or two off the side of there boat . it happens way to much .

Nice fish. Ive heard the bite is going pretty good on the upper river in many of the current seams. That fast current in the high water sure can stack those fish up in those seams and sometime very close to shore to. Ive seen it where we are pulling fish just a foot or 2 off the bank and right at peoples feet that are standing on shore. Hadnt had a chance to get up there after them yet this year.

We fished down river on Friday afternoon and found a few nice walleyes and white bass. Trolling crankbaits and pitching jigs was the ticket. AS you can see in the one photo Joel is very excited about catching his 1st walleye from pool 2 this year.

Yes! I’m not the only one. I used to live in the central lakes area and really didn’t have this issue. But, since moving south here on the rivers there is a lot of jerks out there. I will not even try fishing near Red Wing during spring prime time I always end up with someone trying to bully my 14′ lund outta the way (a guy from Iowa tried to whack me with his rod one time after I told him where to go) … For example last night the family and I tried our hand at trout fishing a stream. A guy comes up the trail jumps in the stream and starts casting right into where I’m bank fishing, seriously?! I looked at him and shook my head at least while he was there (15 min.) we caught a few fish and watched him throw his fly in a tree. He spent five minutes trying to yank it out. He left after that

She went just a tad over 18″s. We usually see a few between 18 and 19″s every year. They are fun to catch.
