I wanted to start an ice fishing summary on the St. Croix for this shortened season we had… Bayport and Prescott areas and the places in between…
All in all the fishing was slow from what I saw and heard – did anyone tie into the walleyes? I predicted a hot season for crappies as the bite before ice up was very gooda…but I don’t think this season was as good as last years?..

I had a real good crappie bite just before ice up as well but never made it out on the hard stuff. Between the warm winter and the legendary unpredictability of Croix ice, I just didn’t trust it. Nothing frightens me more than a surprise dip in near freezing water!……………………..well, maybe coyote ugly scares me more, but that’s a different subject! :O)
