Ok guys after using my Ugly stik elite this year I’ve decided to make all my rods to the elites. Those of you that don’t know about the rod it’s all graphite with a wood type handle. But I need advice on the action for the rods.
    Here’s my thoughts
    Pitching plastic 7’6 medium spinning
    Blades 7’6medium light spinning
    Drag 7’6 medium light spinning
Bottom bounce and 3 way medium heavy casting
    What everyone think ?

Well I’m not familiar with the Ugly Stick line up but what I can tell you is if your going to spend much time pitching blades a fast or extra fast tip is a must. If you choose otherwise you will over work your blade and your success will be limited and you will spend more time snagging fish than catching . With all your other presentations those rods should work out for you. Good Luck!!

Well if you guys ever fish together you won’t have to bring any of your rods then, HA! hah

Seriously give up the Ugly Stik for certain presentations. Trolling, 3-ways, casting fine. But do yourself a favor and buy just one decent rod for pitching. You wont go back. I’ll echo comments above, medium extra fast would be one of the most versatile rods you own.

I fish a lot of 6’6″ Medium extra fast and Medium light extra fast rods.

I agree with the comments above. Get 1 nice rod for pitching jigs. The sensitivity will pay off.

Consider the Abu Garcia Veritas rods. they retail at $99 but 2-3 times a year they have a $20 mail in rebate so they are $79. Great rods for the money when it comes to bass fishing, including finesse techniques and light bite detection so I would assume it would work great for walleyes as well.
