Have my TUCR precision and okuma ceymar c10 on order, wondering what everyone recommends for line. Fishing outside and in a portable so will probably stay away from braid.

I have the exact same setup and use 5lb Suffix Invisiline or 5lb Berkley Professional Grade Flourocarbon.

6# Sufix Advance is pretty awesome stuff.

5 or 6 # floroclear is another option.

you just spool on the advance or is there an ice line version I am not seeing?

Only thing I hate about “ice” line is the small spool size.

Are you talking Sufix Advance mono?

This is what I use. Summer sized 330 yard spools.

Do you use that on big water too? (Ex. lake Winnipeg, Green Bay)

When I go to Winnipeg I don’t fish ifishpros due to the hassles obtaining good livebait and my preference to catch those greenback jigging with Rippin Raps, Slab Raps, etc

From the online tests I’ve seen 6# Sufix Advance mono breaks at near 10# test so I’d have no concerns using it for walleye on Green Bay.

When I’m fishing big suckers for walleye, or any time I’m targeting Pike or lake trout, I use heavier rods, Tuned Up Customs LTPs with a larger baitfeeder reel – Avenger ABF20, spooled with 20-30# Sufix 832 braid.

Do you run a swivel on a jigging rod? If so do you use a floro leader or the same suffix advance?

A small swivel is always a good idea if you’re jigging a lure that induces line twist. I prefer Sufix Invisiline flouro but a section of Advance mono would work just fine in a pinch.

James, have you tried other ‘copolymer’ class lines like Yo Zuri Hybrid or P-Line CXX in the light (2-6#) tests on the ice? How does Sufix Advanced Copoly compare? Those break at much higher than rated strength as well.

x2 on running Suffix Advance with the small swivel.

Hey James, do you always direct tie, or use small snaps with the bigger fish?

I run 6# Pline Floroclear on my Commander and Precision. Have used Sufix Ice Magic and the CPT Frost braid with good results. Either way I run a swivel to 12-18″ of 6-10# fluorocarbon. Has worked well for Crappie, eater walleye and mid to upper 20’s pike.

I usually run a small snap. The ease of changing lures is just too darn convenient not to.

I ran advanced all year open water. Have used cxx, sensation, zuri, all great lines in their own respects (CXX toughness is amazing), but in cold weather, advanced would easily be the most supple with the most sensitivity and least stretch.

Would definitely add some flouro for ninja applications, the advanced becomes quite opaque with use.

One part when I look at line is I pay attention to the line diameter and not just the listed #test on the box.

    For example

4# Yo zuri hybrid line diameter is at .235 mm.
4# Pline Floroclear line diameter is at .18 mm.

It would be more fair to compare 6# Pline Floroclear with line diameter at .23 mm.

Stroft GTM 2x at .22 mm line diameter is listed at 11#.
