What are some size and manufacturer suggestions for walleye jigs through the ice? Plan is to tip with a minnow or plastic and will also run into the occasional pike.

    Thanks!

Typical 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz mostly. I may use 1/16 oz if they’re light biting. I may use up to 1 oz if pounding bottom.

Thank you for the information. Any specific brands or styles you prefer?

I like the short shank style 1/8oz, Northland and VMC both make some in multiple colors/finishes with the option for a stinger hook if using a larger chub/shiner

Are you asking about jigs or jigging spoons?

H20 precision jigs or the like are nice, size depends on presentation.

Take this with a grain of salt bc I don’t ice fish much compared to others, but I do pretty darn good with fireball jigs. Especially the heavier ones really keep a sucker tame. Hooking percentages and retention pretty good.
