Does anyone else run just straight fluorocarbon line for jigging walleyes?

I never run braid with a leader because it freezes and it turned me off.

What kind test you normally run for just straight fluorocarbon?

Am I missing out on something by not having braid then a leader line of fluorocarbon? Just wondering. Thanks!

I’ve tried Floro and even the 4lb I found too stiff for winter conditions, it would come right off the spool (Sufix Floroclear)

Sufix 100% flouro 4# was cats butt last season for me. Think it really helped in high pressure areas.

With that said line snapped on a huge one on mille lacs that still haunts me. Will upgrade to 6# on big fish waters.

I agree though, 6# flouro gets a bit unruly. Still not to bad for myself, been trying to find pline floroclear that many on here rave about but can’t find it locally thus far.

Thorne bros had some a month or so back, I think in 6lb.. I only picked up 3lb. The guy told me floroice and floroclear are the exact same. Ice is just re labeled, spooled with smaller amounts and costs more doah

Sufix 832 braid to a flouro leader hands down!

I use 5,6,7, and 8# floroice depending on rod and jig being used outside and 832 with floro leader inside or on warmer days, say above 15. I prefer the braid until the ice becomes more of an issue, then it’s floroice time.

Fluorocarbon coated line for strength ASSO Tetramax
Fluorocarbon coated line for managing ASSO Micron3

Pline Floroclear or Floroice is good too.

Straight Fluorocarbon lines are a bit weaker in terms of strength and knots. The faster line sink is beneficial.

Some soft version for spinning reels I’ve used
    Gamma Touch
    Gamma Fluorocarbon Ice
    ASSO Ice Heavy

Not sure if it works on Fluro but on mono I will run hot water over a newly spooled line to help it to conform to the smaller spools of our ice reels. Make sure you spool it on in the correct direction when adding new line, this will also help unruly line.
