Walking with a hand auger too. Get cold, drill a hole. If there’s no exercise involved is it still a sport?

Well, we can always look to baseball as exhibit A!

I have the same problem. No ATV or snowmobile so I do a lot of hoofin it. I am fortunate enough to have two setups. I have an Otter 650 insulated flip over for the colder days and a pop up that I haul out in a cheaper sled on the warmer days. I like many of the ideas suggesting adding skies or runners to get your equipment up out of the snow a little. I hope to get around to doing that when time allows. The Otter sleds are nice but when you get all your gear loaded in one and your trudging through 4, 6, 8, or more of snow it gets to be more work than fun. Another suggestion would be to ask a buddy to come along to help share in task of getting out and set up.

I did just that last weekend. Talked to him today, he told me he’d gone home and told his wife I’d tried to kill him! HAHA! -)

It’s only a sport for pitchers and catchers based on my experience and 3 shoulder surgeries later. For the rest it’s just a game. Ice fishing gets more hi-tech it’d be just a game too though give a kid gamer a flasher and put them on fish, keep them warm and dry and they are addicted to it like Minecraft.

So for you guys that are using a sled on your portable and fishing out of the portable (vs just using the sled to transport gear) How does it work to fish out of an elevated portable? Or do you take the portable off the sled to fish?
