Why when I click on a link on this site using chrome does the status bar say “waiting on facebook.com”? I’ve found some theories online what’s happening but I’d like to hear from someone here what’s going on if anyone knows.
The Facebook widget at the very bottom of the page shows total likes. Every time the page loads the widget pings FB for the info requested by the widget. Those requests load slowly at times…

Facebook isn’t requesting info when you click on a link here on IDO. The widget is requesting info FROM Facebook any time a page is loaded. The widget checks the number of page likes on our Facebook page and displays the count within the widget.
