I’m looking at getting one, but am wondering about the positives and negatives you owners may have. My one concern when looking at them is the 87 inch width. Do you get some lean when two people are on one side of the boat when landing a fish?

Sometimes the drastically wide beams can actually create a rougher ride especially if it isn’t a boat over 18 or 19’ that can span the wave crests. I’ve ridden in a couple of the big Tuffy boats and they embrace the slightly narrower hull as it cuts through waves better and is a faster hull than most comparable length boats.

I’m sure you’ll get some lean with two adults hanging over a side, but not anything significant unless you’re in big rollers. Take one out and try it for yourself!

My Competitor 165 has 87″ beam too and I’ve never really thought about it or noticed a problem. Don’t all boats lean with a couple of people on a side? I’ve never thought anybody is going to fall out or anything like that.

I picked up a new Voyageur tiller this spring and I love it. I would consider it extremely stable for a lighter aluminum boat.

I don’t see it as a issue at all, mine has been a good ride and stable from what I see so far!

This is my second season and I love this boat. Real stable with great ride for a 18 boat.

I guess it’s time to get serious and see what kind of deal I can get.
