Would love to see a viable 3rd party option vs just two choices that don’t seem like much of a choice.

I have been saying this for a few years now. I simply don’t like our choices and would like to feel good about who I am voting for.

    “RFK is the Way”

He is on the ballot here in Minnesota. A vote for him or any other non Dem/Rep candidate is the ultimate sign of voter fatigue/anger/frustration with current politics. I wish more people would do it.

The 2 party system will be the demise of this country long before Covid, Migrants, Nuclear War, Global Warming, _________(insert mainstream media bs of your choice here).

Thanks again to all the volunteers!

This needs more acknowledgement! Some of the BS these poor folks have to put up with around the country (thankfully not so much in MN) is just sad…
I thanked the volunteers as I walked out of my polling station…

How can there be voting lines anywhere? It’d widely reported that there have been 80 MILLION absentee votes cast already. How many people do they think are eligable to vote?

I’m flabbergasted that people can spend 20 minutes in the booth. I walked in, gave my name, got my ballot, walked over to the one open booth, filled out the 14 bubbles on the ballot I was in agreement with, walked over to the machine and inserted my ballot, got my sticker, and walked out. All before anyone else in the booths that had been there long before me even moved. Total of about 90 seconds in and out. If you don’t know who/what you’re voting for, don’t vote until you do to speed up the process. That’s what makes lines. (Not talking to you specifically Dutch)

Yes they can volunteer or get paid. Not much, but it’s a paid temporary position.

An incident occured in Illinois on Sunday during an early voting period. This guy decided he didn’t want to wait in line and when asked to go to the back of it, punched an older poll worker in the face. Felony charges pending. shock

I could also be wrong, but I think there’s a small number (could be as low as 1) at each site that get paid – they’re in-charge. But most people like sticker guy or gal is a volunteer job. I should do it sometime and find out – I’m kinda geeky about the whole process.

Was there still people outside holding signs. Thought you couldnt do that. They were in Carver and Chaska when I came to work.

No, but it was raining pretty good. You can’t wear political stuff or bring in signs into the polling station, but the street/sidewalk is fair game for as long as we have the 1st amendment.

Dang, that’s a lot of unregistered voters, if accurate, in that meateater article. Wouldn’t think there would be that many, especially for an outdoors group. I haven’t voted yet, going after work. I also had no idea that Stearns county wanted a new jail but I am across the river now in Benton and still waiting for the horse and carriage to drop the news off.

I think he’s on the ballot in other states too. My understanding is that he missed the deadline to have his name removed according to state election law. He appealed to a state supreme court (don’t remember which state, maybe Michigan?) and they said too late.

Glad too see so many acknowledging the work of the election workers. There have been large amounts of turnover at counties regarding the leadership of these people because of the amount of threats and degrading comments they receive. Poll workers are based on the county. Some counties offer a stipend, some are purely volunteer, and some are hourly (minimum wage). As far as MN nice is concerned I am fairly ashamed of how many early voters behaved. Its common knowledge you cant wear political advertising to polling places, for some reason people had a real hard time taking off those hats. I’m not trying to say who you should vote for but who you choose to vote for is not an excuse to be a total eggplant.

Heading to the booth in an hour or so. Good thing it’s close to a bar.

For you that are voting in Stearns county it is for a new county Jail not a prison. The jail was built in 1985 and either way we are getting a new jail. If you vote yes it will be a small sail tax increase. Otherwise if it does not pass the burden will fall on the land taxes.

Sales tax makes far more sense than property tax. That way the revenue comes in from others outside of Stearns and we dont bear the entire burden with Property Tax.

    done!
Most expensive ballot I ever done. $294.87 X 2 for the nurse, 436 miles round trip. But I appreciate the integrity I see with our poll workers here in my township. Made an appt to vote early and ran home….forgot my ID at the farm and was turned away. Hired coverage for dad again and drove back to vote in person. WI has a simple law that clearly states you can not wear any candidate crap or hand out any propaganda at the polls. You can stand across the street, rent a billboard, anything you want OUTSIDE of the voting facility. Idiot walks in with the hat, buttons, shirt..then blows a gasket because they are restricting his free speech. No, they are enforcing the rules, plain and simple just like when I was denied early voting because I left my ID behind.
Free and fair elections are because of the many volunteers that take an oath and live up to it. Kudos to them.
BTW – eventually the guy went outside, took his shirt and stuff off and came back in wearing just a jacket. Whining, but complied

In a state where the presidential candidates are elected by roughly 10% of the counties, feel like my vote really doesn’t matter on national races.

Presidents are elected by people, not counties. Your vote matters, thank you for voting.

Correct. A high percentage of the population lives in a small number of counties that lean one direction. Obviously the majority of rural county voters lean the opposite direction. They just don’t have the population numbers to make Minnesota be anything other than a one color state in the presidential elections since Nixon.

Good thing they changed the law. I remember when bars and liquor stores were closed on election day and couldn’t open until the polls closed.
