visitors….

Ma and I took some time to enjoy that cabin, or tried to enjoy the cabin. We’ve never seen mosquitoes like we did up there this trip. Ever. You could not be outside without bug stuff almost running off your hide. Damn, they were bad.

BUT, we did enjoy some visitors that didn’t buzz. Tuesday evening we had a young bear come to eat his sunflower seeds in the trough. Cute little sucker with a brown nose that extended clear up into his brows. He was back Wednesday evening for a while too. Thursday morning at 5 when I got up there were another pair at the breakfast bar including a brown phase that had an absolutely gorgeous brown coat. In the early morning sun, it glistened as he walked off. Quite a contrast to his partner that was coal black.
Thursday evening we had yet another pair of brunos come in, one smaller and the other large enough to be his mother. Strange she hadn’t pushed him away as mother bears do this time of year. I couldn’t get to a phone or camera before they decided to leave so no pic of them.

5 bear in three days and they went thru 50 pounds of sunflower seed.

The picture doesn’t do the color on that bear justice. So many of the brown phase bears just look “ratty”, but this bear looked groomed. Beautiful animal.

Will they become a problem if you keep feeding them ?

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Black bears are so much like big dogs, all about food.
