Frankly I would like to see what JJ Mac Is all about.

Agreed, but if JJ is a Franchise QB he should be able to beat out an aging Rodgers or whoever the veteran placeholder du jour is. Don’t just give him the job like they did Ponder, make him earn it.

Could be but there is only one way to find out. I think the big difference is JJ is a winner Ponder never was. JJ has the pieces in place to have a better chance at success, but like you said you never know till he is out there.

I am guessing A rog still looks very much the part playing in shorts compared to any rookie. I’m sure he can still throw a football in 5 on 5 7 on 7 drills. I bet Brady still could do that. Cousins no doubt.
They made a plan and I am just in the camp of let that plan happen.

If they sign Rogers it’s not for competition with JJ it is to start. Guessing that is all part of the vetting process happening right now.

Let’s say your scenario works out and JJ does beat out A Rog. Do you really think he is a great guy to hold a clipboard and pass on his wisdom to JJ for 1 year?
If JJ has a bad game as a rookie you don’t think there will be scrutiny all over about giving A Rog a shot?

The issue is have with the potential to bring in Rodgers is that there is absolutely no guarantee that we see an Arog any better than he was on the jets last year.

Did you actually look at his stats or just the Jets win/loss record for posting this? Just curious.

I did and they are almost identical to his stats in GB his last season when they went 8-9. This is almost 4 years ago now. His QBR was 25th out of 32 QB’s. He ranked at the bottom of the league in just about every category.

    Pick one… be honest.

    Sam Darnold

    Aaron Rodgers

I see what you are asking but kind of pointless when those are not the two options are they?

With all this Aaron Rogers talk. He went on Cam Hanes podcast. Lift Run Shoot. I was surprised how quickly he was shooting as accurate as he was at the yardage Cam had him shooting.
    They had an interesting conversation.

Pointless ? Lets see, one they tried to retain, but lost out to another team. the other wants to take his place, for the same money. It’s not that hard, being honest is though. smirk

No, they didn’t. If they wanted to retain Darnold, they could have. Either thru the Franchise Tag or likely by matching Seattle’s fairly weak offer.

Yes, Rodgers by all accounts of his teammates and people who know him, is a great guy. He knows and see’s the game at a level very few people ever have, and that would be beneficial for JJ. The media and his relationship with them and GB’s weak front office is where the cancer bs comes from imo.

Leber had a great point this morning on KFAN that if the Vikes bring in a veteran QB that they dont believe in JJ.

Rodgers will not come to the Vikes unless he is guaranteed to be the starter. The guy will force his way if they bench him.

Frankly don’t care about all cancer stuff do you truly believe he would be alright being a backup. That is something I don’t think he really has a desire to do at this point. Why would he want to do that. I think there is zero doubt he wants to start and take one last run at it with a team he thinks has a shot. Zero chance he wants to get brought in to mentor a rookie.

Rodgers comes in as a starter or not at all.

Him being a backup and a few bad games by JJ…

Guessing everyone knows what will happen…

That is a terrible point, JJ is the only QB on roster and I highly doubt they are going to sign 2-3 rookies to back him up. Of course they will be signing at least one, probably 2-3 veteran QB’s.

Depends on the context, if Rodgers gets hurt and JJ plays well I could see Rodgers supporting that, even once healthy. If Rodgers plays terrible and/or the season goes sideways, I could see Rodgers being ok moving to the bench, he’s smart and understands reality. Multiple realities even! jester

I don’t see JJ totally crashing and burning without significant offensive injuries, which would also more than likely sink A-a-Ron. There is just too much talent between the coaching and offensive players for JJ to completely fall on his face. He has been set up to succeed, so the chances of that happening are way better than not. One would expect a bump in the road or two, but I doubt he drives the team into the ditch.

IF A-a-ron wants another ring, he does it on KOC’s terms. And I believe KOC’s terms are that A-a Ron only joins the team as a backup. The Vikings hold the cards in this situation.

He is not signing to be a backup.

Remember Ponder went 10-6 in his first full season. AP had to run for 2000 yards however.

That’s pretty funny, but at the same time only one of those three is actually good at what they do, but I get what you are saying.

He was getting at signing a Veteran Starter to start over JJ. Of course they need to sign a veteran QB that has been a backup over a bunch of rookies.

Oh I definitely looked at his stats and saw a QB who was worse in almost every category than Darnold, who I am/was also 100% ok with moving on from. He’s also 41, has had a recent Achilles tear. ALSO, we all saw plenty of Kirk putting up “stats” to know that stats aren’t everything.

Now compare Rodgers to Mahomes. You don’t think Rodgers putting up stats with that crap team even after adding Adams is significant?

To me the fact he hasn’t signed yet or given an answer to any team is the drama I can live without. I have seen reports that he may wait until the draft to decide. 2 teams have offers out and 1 team the Vikes have gone silent on the issue for about a week now. Have not made another move for a QB. Yeah im good with signing another backup and giving the keys to JJ to see what he has.

Frankly their is only Winston Wentz and Flacco that are left for veterans.

A closer examination of Erins stats. The Jets trailed in almost all their games, thats when any quarterback can pile stats, against prevent and soft defenses. I will admit, he got stronger as the year went on. Maybe the injury was gone, maybe the recievers were better, maybe he was better. Don’t know the reason because I don’t care. He could have thrown for 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns I wouldn’t care.

He’s the same guy he has always been. He was an egomaniac coming out of college. Felt slighted sitting behind Farve. And then there is the yearly off season “will I or won’t I” making everything about him. Best thing that happens is the Vikings pass, the Steelers pass, the Giants pass and the music stops and he’s left without a chair.

Lol if we’re going to use that as a metric on a down year for Mahomes we should have extended Darnold.

But we didn’t, because the FO has a plan that revolves around JJ being successful.

You’re not wrong with that, but Mahomes down year is still better than about half the league last year and yet Rodgers was better on a much WORSE team with hardly any weapons.

The only state Roger’s was better than Maholmes was his 2 more TD’s otherwise Roger’s was worse and much worse in many cases of every QB stat you can attain vs Maholmes.

So to say he was better than Maholmes last year is pure fantasyland.
