Not really resigned. They are just not releasing him.

Vikes got Jordan Mason and pick 187 this year from the 49ers for pick 160 this year and a 2026 6th rounder.

After doing some digging this seems like a pretty solid deal. Mason had 800 yards last year and got a lot of RB1 time with Christian McCaffrey out. Looking at some comments on Twitter and 49ers fans are not happy. They really like the guy and were counting on him with McCaffrey injured so much.

The 2026 6th rounder is what the Vikes got a few days ago when they traded Ed Ingram to the Texans.

Bringing Aaron Jones back was fine but he’s got a lot of miles on him and won’t be around forever. This move gives the Vikes a proven back without having to overpay a free agent or reach in the draft for Jones’ successor. I’m optimistic about their RB situation being better this year.

I know it’s a beaten dead horse, but damn if Kwesi could’ve gotten just a few more starters out of all those bad drafts…. because his free agency work seems to be top-notch.

An unbelievable free agency period, that just may be capped-off with the biggest downer in pro football history. A-rog wants to be here despite offers from two other teams, I hope KOC and KAM can think better of it. I’d rather have the Vikes go 0-16 with JJM, than have to route for that guy. And I bet a lot of fans feel the same way.

I don’t like Rodgers either but which QB gives you the best shot to win the SB this year? If you think that’s JJ that’s fine but look what Rodgers did in NY with that crap team. Better stats than lots of other QBs. I wouldn’t want him around longer than a year and I still want JJ to get meaningful games too to see what he has. Maybe start the season with JJ and if he flounders throw in Rodgers at least we’d know where JJ is at and potentially not throw the season away. This team is a contender on paper and should be vastly improved over last year with the changes they made already. I’d give it a shot with him provided he could agree to those terms that he may be backup… And I have been very critical about Rodgers for a long time. I won’t stand for any antics either so he better fit in or he’s out.

You are probably right if he wouldn’t be open to it then don’t sign him simple as that.

I think that’s a big part of the deal is the role based on whatever the plan is. It’s been well noted that ownership and Kwesi are allowing KOC to make a lot of this decision, so in a way I trust that. It would be real nice to see JJ all year. Folks always talk about the situation a young QB steps into. The Vikes were a playoff team and on paper improved a ton, especially the O-line, so i can’t imagine many better situations.

Shifting gears, there’s still San Fran reporters and fans that are p*ssed the 9ers gave up Mason for very little. I think that’s gonna turn out to be an extremely good deal for the Vikes.

Theres also reporters and fans who say the reason they traded him is he can’t catch the ball.

I am for signing Rodgers on these terms: He comes in as JJ’s backup, not as a presumptive starter for $15 million guaranteed, with incentives up to $30 million if needed to play. Rodgers takes it or leaves it. I already love Rodgers; If he were to take the deal, be an awesome mentor, and conceivably take us to the big dance if JJ got injured, all the haters would change their tune, and I’m here for it. I think I’d even get a jersey.

Yeah I was watching some film on him after I heard the news and he looks like the guy we hoped Mattison would have turned into. Runs with power and speed. I think he will compliment Jones very nicely.

X2 – I’m on record saying if Rogers is the starting QB here, I will not watch a Vikings game. He could lead the Vikings to a 17-0 record and into the Superbowl and I’d not watch. On the positive side, If they do sign and play him, I guess I’ll have more Sunday fishing time.

I do not believe you rotflol . I really don’t get the Rodgers hate. He’s an all-time great, that has not lost his fastball and an ultimate competitor. If the Packers had a clue they would have got him some more talent, and probably have another couple Super Bowls, instead they ran him out of town to stroke MLF/Gutey’s ego’s. Him coming here on a team friendly deal, and teach JJ how to operate at the highest levels and own the Pack like Favre did I am all for it.

I say go for it. The time to get on the train is when its in the station. Look what almost happened with Favre in 2009 ? Had the Aint’s not cheated and beat the hell out of him, I think we would of had our first SB. Rodgers in Purple !!! Love it !! jester

I just don’t like him as a person. He’s been a cry baby his whole playing career. I just don’t believe we need a cancer like him on the team

Hot button for all sports these days is “culture”. If you want what this asshole brings fine, then don’t cry when he torpedos the teams “culture.”

Ahh yes the most-criminally troubled franchise in the NFL, but the fan base draws the line at an all-time great QB with an ego. Room temp IQ takes in here

He is not an all time great. He isn’t better than Brady. Isn’t better than Montana. Isn’t better than Marino. When it’s done he won’t have been as good as Mahomes. He will have as many Super Bowl wins as Flacco, Brad Johnson, Joe Namath, Trent Dilfer……all, you will agree are ledgenary quarterbacks.

Lets not start comparing the Vikings switch toting player with your Packer child molester either.

    But go ahead, preach away.

The issue is have with the potential to bring in Rodgers is that there is absolutely no guarantee that we see an Arog any better than he was on the jets last year. The guys is 41, and IMO the damage potential moving forward is way greater than the potential upside. If this was 36 year old Arog and/or he played significantly better last season I’d be all on board. Way too many people are holding onto the “what if we get great Rodgers” sentiment, maybe because we all loved through his prime and saw what he was able to do for so many years.

I’m all for it. It’s a win win situation. If he’s great, everyone will be talking about him. If he’s terrible, everyone will be talking about him. There’s no way to lose here.

He is not signing here to hold a clip board. If he signs it is to start. 100 percent. He can retire and hold a clipboard. Hell he could probably make more than 15 million retired to.

If he signs it’s because the Vikings are going all in this year.

Frankly I would like to see what JJ Mac Is all about.

He is not an all time great.

He’s 7th all time in yards (one decent season from 5th), 5th all time in TD’s (5 behind Favre for 4th), and #1 all time in passer rating. 4x MVP, second only to Peyton Mannings 5x. 10x Pro Bowler. 5x All Pro. By any objectionable measure he is an All-Time Great.
