I had heard they did want Penix over JJ and had expected him to be there until Atl picked Penix at pick #8.

I remember the same thing. Its a roll of the dice, more #1 overall or top 5 pick QBs have failed miserably than have hit it sure seems. Then you have that chump Brady from what the 5th round and Kurt Warner who was bagging groceries…

Hasn’t another team in the NFC North like the Packers had success on WR draft picks in the 2nd rd? Davante Adams immediately comes to mind

    Jordy Nelson – 2nd round
    Greg Jennings – 2nd round
    Donald Driver – 7th round
    James Jones – 3rd round

Talk about living in the past, most of those guys are older than me! And, besides Devante, retired before my 7 year old was born, in a league with average career span of 3 years. Also that is ignoring the great GB WR pics since then of: Jeff Janis, Ty Montgomery, Trevor Davis, Malachi Dupri, Deangelo Yancey, MVS, Eq St Brown, J’Mon Moore, skip 3 years of any WR drafted and then get into the modern guys still largely TBD. No wonder Rodgers hated the front office!!!
rotflol jester rotflol Oh and btw are not nearly as good as our RECENT late round picks: Diggs (5th), Thielen (UFA), and KJ Osborn (5th)

I don’t think any of the top 3 teams wanted to trade down so there really wasn’t any possibility of Minn moving up unless they gave away the farm. I had heard they did want Penix over JJ and had expected him to be there until Atl picked Penix at pick #8. Could be wrong but I think that caused the Vikings to move up to #10 with the Jets to make sure nobody jumped them since everyone knew they were going to pick a QB. You are right, many times the later QB turn out to be the best. Look at Mahomes as an example. I think other than the Bears we are all glad they took Trubisky

    Kind of irrelevant now.
Surely with all these crappy drafts it should have been easy for the cheese to beat the purple this year. Oh wait… toast

Vikings havent had a history of drafting a franchise QB. Closest thing I can remember was Culpepper and he wasnt around that long. Rich Gannon ended up winning a SB but obviously not for us.

What about Christian Ponder? He was an early 1st rounder if I remember correctly. Best we got from him was looking at his wife.

Wow, this is hilarious. The Queems front office is so bad at drafting they have now signed 9 new FA’s and that doesn’t even include resigning last years FA’s that they signed to a 1 year contract. That’s almost 1/2 of a starting roster!!! Even the Bears have only traded or signed 6 new players. Really good franchise QB’s 1st round picks include Culpepper, Ponder, Bridgewater and now JJ. Pretty much a given looking at past history of past history of the franchise and the current franchise (pick by committee approach) that JJ stands a snowball chance in he!! of succeeding. Probably will have to go back your old ways of picking up the Packer castoffs and sign Erin Rodgers. hah jester

I’d take JJ on a rookie deal over giving Jordan Love a record setting deal, but I haven’t been drinking Milwaukee’s Best all afternoon either… rotflol

KJ Osborn better than Jennings, Nelson, or Driver is hall of fame perposterous statement material.

I do see Wilson has jumped the border and joined the Vikes to bolster the LB depth. The GB to Sota pipeline never stops. He’ll be in Seattle within two years as history shows this migration usually continues West.

This is just in. Looks like the queens are signing another Packer castoff in LB Wilson. Guess they just can’t help themselves in trying to be just like the Pack. Guess if you can’t draft for crap you have to rebuild using other team’s castoffs. Another non Super Bowl season coming up, LOL!!! smash

You dont have a potential franchise QB if the only benefit is looking at his wife. I was merely pointing out ones that may have been a franchise caliber guy, but neither panned out for us and one panned out elsewhere even if it were a lucky SB win.

When your team does a bunch of FA’s signings, it directly point to poor drafting and more so to having a bad franchise period. If you draft correctly, you have your own players to resign to a second/third contract. Goes to show the backwards/incorrect thinking of Viking fans that somehow having to sign 8-10 players every year and never having a HOF QB is a good thing.

Check out the link, and when you are there pay special attention to the Super Bowls won/lost and the Championships won. But I’m sure all the Vikings fans are full aware they haven’t won any. applause chased jester

We get it. The Pack have SB wins and the Vikes don’t. Yawn.

Good luck the next 10 years. You’re paying a mediocre QB who likes to throw the ball to the other team over $50m. Let’s check back in a few years and see how the Pack is doing. I’m gonna predict they are the next Cleveland Browns.

How is Eric Wilson a Gb castoff when he has played more seasons for MN than Gb? Come on guys, we don’t expect much out of you but lol

Tlazer has a weird infatuation with how the purple play and operate. He also think it’s 1999.

Seeing lots of websites say the Vikings did extremely well in free agency…

I’d still like them to trade out if the 1st round and acquire 2 picks in the top 60 if possible and take some shots on a Running Back and Cornerback/Safety…

There is a reason Erin is trying to court the Vikings.

Well, almost all accounts. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd apparently isn’t too impressed with the Vikings’ big additions in free agency. Despite adding big names like Will Fries, Ryan Kelly, Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave to a roster that won 14 games and beat every team they faced not named the Detroit Lions or Rams, Cowherd thinks the Vikings’ roster is the weakest in the NFC North, and he predicts Minnesota to finish last in the tough division in 2025. You heard that right.

“NFC North. This is the toughest division, for me, in football,” Cowherd said on his FS1 show, The Herd, on Thursday during a segment where he predicted the division winners and all the playoff teams in the NFC for the 2025 season. “The Lions have the best roster, I’ll pick them one. The Vikings have the worst roster, I’ll pick them four.”

    Cowherd…he’s a joke.

Preseason predictions don’t mean a thing. They were picked to finish last in 2024, too. Seems they did slightly better.

It’s a cute defense mechanism to laugh about what everyone knows, mainly the Vikings free agency being the high point of the upcoming season

Well multiple “owners” dunking on Eric Wilson coming BACK here was objectively funny. But I also use emojis to imply I’m joking since I know how sensitive cheeseheads get when pointing out flaws in the #PackerWay. And while I know you can take it TLazer and other “owners” don’t have the same history.

That’s funny werm, I don’t have a problem at all with friendly banter, but maybe some of you do. What I laugh at is everything I post gets you guys all riled up. Not sure where you get the idea I can’t take it. But we could talk about last year if you want. One of YOUR Minn Vikings fan club members made some very derogatory comments directed at Packer fans, and NOT one of you had enough character and called him out for it. Real upstanding guys in my book. I guess since it was directed at Packer fans, the use of that language was ok with most you. Pretty sad if you ask me. I would have thought I would have heard some of you say, ‘hey that’s not right” “we don’t condone the use of that language”. If a Packer fan had made that comment directed at Viking fans I would have called him out on it since I don’t like personal attacks. All most of you did was laugh and say ‘I see you changed your avatar. I’m guessing my reply to him must have alerted the moderators and they deleted his post and my reply to his derogatory comment. One Viking fan did PM me and say what he said wasn’t right, and said went he went too far. He basically apologized for his comment and I totally respect him for that. We still banter on these posts to this day which I think/hope we both enjoy. You shouldn’t take this so seriously since it’s only football, have a beer and R-E-L-A-X (that’s what you new QB Rodgers would say). Oh by the way I’m not an “owner” but you can keep thinking I am if you want.
