well thats a wrap Vikes fans

    a 4th
    couple 6ths and 7ths left

i guess i would have stayed at 23 but can’t hate them for taking the first defensive player from Bama. its an overpay if you ask me. Kwesi just can’t help himself and just learn to stay put which is nothing new.

Turner was the consensus top pass rusher so I can’t complain… They’ll get 2 or 3 3rd round comp picks next year and can trade down from where ever their 1st round pick is to acquire more picks if needed…

    The rumored offer to the Pats for #3 was #11 + #23 + 2025 1st + a future 2nd and 3rd… the Pats turned them down…

I think Kwesi is more lucky that JJ was still there. Giants could’ve/should’ve took him. Falcons must’ve had their minds made already. Would’ve been Bo Nix left.

i would have called their bluff too. too much guaranteed money on Danny Dimes contract which if you remember the vikings gifted him during that playoff debacle.

thats not surprising. no sane GM is paying that price but I do not trust our staff.

I like this draft but I do not trust what is going on. as an outsider, it appears Kwesi is influenced in all sorts of directions…..hope i am wrong

Most of the picks used to get Turner are 2025 picks, so Qwesi still has all year to acquire more…

We still have a 4th, 2 x 6th and 7th round picks this draft… they will most likely trade that 4th rounder to get a couple others…

They also have a TON of capspace starting next off season….

I think alot of Vikings fans are still conditioned from the Trader Rick Spielman years where he would constantly trade back acquiring tons of mid/late round picks only to cut most of them after a few weeks of training camp…

I agree that Qwesi needs to get better at protecting his pick values (he probably overpays a bit) but why not draft quality over quantity?

The Vikings now have a grand total of 3 draft picks in 2025.

The Packers took a tackle (fine with that move), but chose a guy who was most likely going to be eligible 15 picks later into the 2nd round. Position fit is fine, but value for the spot is rough.

So it turns out Cousins camp was blindsided by the Penix interest/pick from the Falcon’s… oh that’s too bad… )

They have 2 or 3 3rd round compensatory picks coming and could always drop back a few spots in the 1st round (depending on where they end up) to get some good capital back… there’s also 12 months of time for other trades to happen, they’ll be fine…

Are they going to ruin their future star QB with their weak O line before he even has a chance?

Turner is a stud. They drafted a QB without giving up the farm.
Not sure how you could complain so far.
What JJ becomes who knows but doesn’t set them back either.
Not sure there should be any complaints so far.

That couldn’t have gone much better for the purple. It will boil down to whether JJ is the guy or not, but he’s in a great spot to succeed. And that pass rush should be nasty.

If he is not he cost a 10 pick where you could argue they could have taken Turner.

The Vikings did well. Low risk moves overall. Turner projects as at minimum an average starter (with likely a pro bowl caliber ceiling) at an impact position. JJ was there and cost them basically nothing more than anticipated.

The JJ pick not costing them that second first rounder creates less pressure to play the kid right away and less pressure on KOC and the front office. If he gets into camp and doesn’t look the part or is struggling, Darnold can be the bridge guy for up to an entire season. That really creates a layer of safety for those involved with the pick…substantially moreso than if they traded more assets and had to play the kid Day 1.

Darnold will start and play backed up by Mullins. Hall & McCarthy will get schooled and learn. Maybe if McCarthy is a fast learner he hits the field by week 12 but there isn’t and shouldn’t be any hurry. You need to look no further than Chicago to see what happens when 2 kids (Trubisky & Fields) were force fed to the NFL before they are ready.

Patrick Mahomes was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 draft. Coincidence? grin

I agree, no reason to throw him into the fire in week 1. A whole season on the sidelines with a clipboard and a head set is hopefully what they do here with him this season. A 21 year old rookie would get lit up.
