Can somebody explain to me the logic in this trade?

    Vikings get #32, 34, 66
    Detroit gets #12, 46

The value is a huge loss to the Vikings, To a division rival as well? Wtf is the new GM doing?

You’d have to explain what you are talking about first.

There is no explanation other than the fact that the first time GM blew it..

What an awful first draft for the new GM. Can not see the logic behind this unless there is really truly no value at pick 12.

I’d guess he found of scrap of paper in his desk indicating it’s what Spielman intended to do.

Even if that’s the case, you get more value for moving down 20 spots in the first.

The move really doesn’t say “analytics” guy to me…

More bites of the apple! as Spielman would say

They wanted to go CB…but none there were worth the pick. Trading back wasn’t bad, but trading back that far for what they got was a mistake. I’d have taken the mountain of a tackle that runs like a deer from Georgia in that spot.

In an ideal situation they could’ve moved back just 5-6 picks, gained some capital, and still taken the #3 CB.

    Spielman hacked into the draft.
Even the talking heads on KFAN are having trouble explaining it.

As mentioned, this GM is supposed to be an analytics/numbers guy, wtf currency is he playing with?

Makes zero sense, NFL 1st round pick value is everything, we gave ours away..

Last year, Bears gave up their first this year to move up 7 or so spots to get Justin Fields. We moved down 20 and swapped seconds and got an extra third.

    Bad move on Kwesi’s part.

i expected to see us get Detroits first next year. i’m all for more picks but hard to make sense of this? this is a weird draft with lots of value for multiple rounds tho…..i’m good with it i guess.

At least they’re staying true to the Vikings tradition of ineptitude

Might as well take Willis if he’s still there at 32 and get the 5th year rookie contract option…

unless somebody trades up Willis is there. Dean is a stud and if he goes Ojabo would be another great option but banking on the injury to be 100%. the safety out of Michigan is high on the board but never watched him play?

So you pass on Hamilton at 12 and trade back to take a guy just like him…… doah

Wouldn’t that make sense then if they are the same and you got him at 32 instead of 12. Don’t mind them moving back but don’t think they got the value in return to do so.

seems like a small victory. all i know is Georgia had the best D in decades so load up and I can’t complain about the pick. i will complain a tad if their next pick is not Dean, Willis or Ojabo but i am just a rube who watches highlights.

No way they take Willis at 34 after passing on him at 32 with the 5th option…. They should take the UGA LB if he’s still there at 34…

If they take Willis, will it hurt Kirk’s feelings? He kind of reminds me of TJack but who knows? Dean is really really good and it is weird he is still there unless there is some dirt on him? Seems like a perfect fit for the new 3-4 D.

Glad I’m not the only one that thinks the Vikings got fleeced in the trade down.
Had they got an additional 4th or even 5th rd in the deal, it would have been a little better.

We’ll see I guess but so far, with that trade, I’m not impressed with the GM.

Not a Packer backer but not picking at least 1 WR? I don’t understand that either.
