I am from Chgo. I have a benched 1st round QB I could trade for your 2021 #1 pick. You’d like him. Really.

Ouch. I just read an article on how Pace had Mahomes believing he was gonna be there choice on draft night but he went with Trubisky. That’s gotta sting.
vikings win and no post, come on politics more important??
Why bother? So all the packers fans can troll? Thats all that ends up happening.
Vikings played well. Id rather we lost all the games from here on out so we can get Lawrence or lance
I just noticed your profile picture. Case in point
I’m a football fan regardless of where I live. 30 years ago we didn’t care if our team won or lost we just were fans times have changed? I thought trolls were south of the mackinaw?
crappie i respect your views as a whole but Lance aint the answer…if the vikes reach for him thats as bad or worse than Ponder

Honestly don’t know much about Lance. Just see him atop the draft boards. I would like a high draft prospect to groom at QB. Oh and a coach who knows how to groom a QB would be nice too.
In that case we should part ways with Zimmer now. At best, he should be defensive coordinator.

They just inked him to a new multi-year contract this past off-season. Along with Spielman and Cousins. Even if the Vikes go 1-15 we’re going to see the same brain trust back next year. Zim has never made the playoffs two years in a row. It has been every other. They’ll use that for optimism and blame the down year on it being a weird year with no fans, no preseason, missed practices, and key guys not playing for the down year.
The unfortunate reality for Vikings fans is that we’re stuck with what we got.

We can cut cousins after next season without much of a cap penalty. Whether they draft his successor or give him another raise is anybodies guess. He did play better today though. I think the emergence of Jefferson will really help open up the offense as the season goes on. Too little too late im afraid
I’m not here to make excuses but the defense has taken an almost complete 180 degree turn from past seasons. They signed Pierce to replace Linval and he opted out. Barr is hurt. Smith got ejected. Hunter is still out. Those are some pretty gaping holes and so far their overall team defense, especially their run defense, has been exposed. The positive is that they have looked a lot better the last couple weeks than they did in the first two so they are at least improving. The schedule gets “easier” on paper after Seattle next Sunday night too.
I don’t care what QB they draft, if they don’t fix the O line the qb is going to struggle. The only two qbs that could succeed with this O line are Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. It’s as simple as that. Fix the freaking O line like that should’ve done for the last ten years.

They have been committing quite a bit of resources there between top 4 round draft picks (Elflein, Bradbury, O’Neill, Cleveland, Samia, Beavers) in the last 4 years plus Free Agents (Reiff, Remmers, Cline, Dozier) with little to show for it. Which leads me to believe they do a poor job of developing them, Dennison is in year 2 as the OL coach and seems to have them dialed in on the run game, so hopefully they can continue to improve on pass pro. But it has been their Achilles heel the entire time under Zim/Spielman.
Definitely agree with you there Werm. Great run blocking, terrible pass protecting basically every year under Zim. But I guess that’s his MO isn’t it?
I’m not going to disagree that the O-line has some issues but it’s easy to point fingers because of the pressure that cousin’s is getting. But one thing people forget that just because the QB is getting sacked there are a lot of other aspects that play into this such as play calling. You can have the best O line if the offensive coordinator is not picking the correct play for the defensive set the QB will have no where to throw the ball.

I’d say his MO is top 10 (usually top 5) defenses, developing DB’s, and a lot of impatience with OC’s who don’t do what he wants. I agree with SuperCat that a lot of the pass protection issues are poor playcalling/blocking schemes (ie leaving guys one on one vs the JJ Watt’s of the league) and also a lot goes on Cousins too. He’s been here long enough now that it is his offense as much as Kubiak’s and Cousins should be audibling out of bad plays/protections which he seems to rarely be doing.

Definitely play calling is an issue. One of my biggest gripes with this team over the last two years is that they seem to abandon the plays that are working throughout the middle of the game. Take the first three games as an example. They start out with quick passes to get Kirk going, along with runs, and they seem to drive right down the field on those first drives. Then they stop doing that and the offense stalls out. They seem reluctant to call bootlegs at times as well, which we all know is where Kirk is at his best.
Very frustrated to watch.
Lack of pass rush and lack of pass protection. Simple as that. I actually think they will beat Seattle out of the blue only to lose in dramatic fashion once the schedule eases up.
This team is Doomed until Zimmer and Cousins are gone. With Cousins and Cooks $’s they simply don’t have enough room to go out and get quality O linemen. They get Cousins knowing he’s only a pocket style QB and then they never develop a o line to work with that Style QB. Their Defense is Horrible. The Offence will need to score at least 30+ points a game for this team to have any chance to win – I just don’t see that happening often.

At least you have a ship. And you invented one of the best group dances of all time

Name me the players we’ve lost due to Cousins and now Cook’s contracts? I’ll wait. And while you’re at it, name the big free agency OL we should have been signing? The simple fact is top OL are an asset almost as coveted as Franchise QB’s, and they rarely if ever hit the free agent market especially in or as they are coming into their prime. And Zimmer’s track record on defense is probably only second to Belicheck. They will get the defense straightened out, but a slow start should have been expected with an irregular offseason and an all new cornerback group and defensive line. BTW the Vikes losses have come to 3 teams with 1 combined loss in GB, Ten and Indy.
They have 3-4 very likely losses left on the schedule (Sea, GB, TB and NO) and the rest of the games are a toss up. In the words of Mark Twain, the rumors of the Vikes demise have been greatly exaggerated. They will end up between 7-9 and 9-7, maybe 10-6 if they can steal one of the likely losses. 2-2 vs Sea,ATL,GB, Det 4-0 vs Chi, DAL, Car, Jax and 2-2/3-1 vs TB, Chi, NO, Det. Subject to injuries of course.

OH YEAAAHHHHH, have you had purple drank?!? It’s delicious!
Like you, I used to chug that purple poison like crazy. And like you I would twist all their mishaps in to some kind of justifiable excuse, and declare they are on their way to glory. Yet every year, it was just another disappointing let down. I throttled back on it a bit after 98, then I tried to to kick it completely after 09. I remained pretty level until I got sucked back in again with the Miracle In Minneapolis, but then the Philly-Pholly… That was it! I FINALLY had enough! Or so I thought…. Last year, I managed to still cling on to a little hope (just a few sips won’t hurt), hoping the new QB was what they hoped for, but I knew better. Same result… crash and burn! Then after yet another failed off-season, I finally got the courage up to end that long, abusive, exhausting relationship. No more hangovers! No more Sunday crutch! It’s over! I’ve been on the wagon this season and I feel better than ever. I watched maybe about a half a quarter of the Packers game week 1 and that reinforced I was making the right decision. I dumped the rest of the purple poison down the drain.
But like any break-up, you have to force yourself to hate your lost love in order to move on. And that is really easy to do that when the team is absolute garbage.
Maybe I’ll mix up a new batch and pop the cork again after Spielman is finally gone, but we’ll see. It feels pretty good to peek in on the train wreck that is the Purple and laugh instead of cringe and cry.

I’m from Chicago. How about trading Trubisky for Cousins?? We’ll even throw in some deflated footballs.

Hahahaha I 100% get it, and have definitely attempted the same process. And while I have been able to quit the Twins, I’ve resigned myself that it just won’t happen with the Purple. And like any toxic relationship I’m sure you’ll be back the next time they reach the NFC Championship or best team in the league like 98 or 09…you really going to be ok not cheering for them when they finally go all the way!?!?!

My Bears Fan Co-worker calls him Maserati Mitch…or at least he did!
Zimmer has a new lady friend and all I can say is wow she is a smoke show
