Personally my fl 18 does it for me, it always works never had a problem, but it obviously doesn’t offer all the other bells and whistles as a digital. Your gonna get the marcum brand pushed hard on this site and for good reason, they are definitely a leader in new technology without a doubt

Vexlar or MarCum?

Do Marcums options vary from model to model the way Vexilar does? A few years back I was looking at them and I couldn’t find a Vex with the right options. I do a majority of my fishing in 10′-20′ feet of water with the occasional 30+. mostly going after pan fish. I will be heading to a store this weekend to see what they got now. Thanks again for the input.
December 16, 2016 at 6:10 am #1657602I bet if James and the ice force crew used vexilar the responses would be a lot different. Monkey see monkey do. I personally love my vexilar. I’ve only ever had one problem with a vexilar many years ago and I was able to bring it to motor clinic in Bloomington and it was fixed that day.
I have to agree somewhat with your comment. Of all the fishing websites I visit IDO seems to have the largest following of the Marcum products by far!
Marcum makes good products. I prefer Marcums camera’s but I also prefer Vexilar for my meat and potato fishing sonar. I have upgraded last year to the FLX-28/tri-beam and it works fantastic in all depths including 6-10′ of water! I am not a fan of the ProView ducer that came on it and quickly purchased the trip-beam and now I am very very happy in the performance.December 16, 2016 at 4:44 pm #1657735Do Marcums options vary from model to model the way Vexilar does? for a Vexilar I would look at the FL-22HD . based on how and what you fish this would be a good fit for you. it is only offered as a Ice Pro set up which is the same as the Pro Pack but with out the DD-100 digital depth readout. the FLX-28 would be another option but if you go with that I would suggestion trading the Pro View transducer that comes with it for a Tri Beam transducer. Vexilar will exchange them if you haven’t used it yet.
Tyler WarnerPosts: 83December 18, 2016 at 3:28 am #1657928I absolutely love my Marcum LX6 it’s been awesome. My dad has an LX5 and it’s a great unit too for a traditional flasher. I’ve seen Humminbird, Vexilar and Lowrance in action and the first 2 didn’t impress me at all and nothing about the Lowrance really impressed me too much either considering I have Navionics on my phone and I’m not about to carry around a flasher to follow waypoints lol.
I’ve had to deal with Marcum customer service twice. Once with dad’s LX5 because the motor went and they were great. Marcum returned my call while I was out fishing and chatted with the guy about fishing for a good half an our before my buddy hooked into a big one and I had to let the guy go lol. Even being in Canada the return time wasn’t long at all and everything was taken care of.
My charger for my LX6 was a dud. I bought the unit last spring and obviously hadn’t been able to use it until a week ago and I went to charge it the other evening and the charger didn’t work. I called Marcum and left a message explaining that I had tested the charger etc. It was toast. I had 2 customer service reps call me back without half hour of each other. The first guy told me a new charger would be shipped out to me first thing Monday and the 2nd guy called and I explained that I already spoke to someone. He checked into it anyways and said yep a new charger will be sent right out to you and to have a great day.The customer service is a definite reason why I chose to stick with Marcum when I purchased my LX6 last spring. I have heard good things about Vexilar customer service but that’s my story with Marcum and why I will likely be loyal to their brand for years.
