I have a FL-8se(Orange button) with a 19 degree and I am looking to get a narrower Beam transducer. Wondering peoples experiences with the 12 degree vs the ProView. From reading older posts, some people like the Proview, some not so much. Does seem like it is just a 9 degree and not a mult-degree like that video advertises. (no I don’t want to watch that again, once is enough! smile ). Since in deep water you usually turn up the gain, it doesn’t make any sense that you would want the beam to get wider also. Sounds like snake oil a bit to me as others have said. I also noticed they don’t even offer the Tri-Beam anymore on there website, must of discontinued it.

I fish 50% of time in 6-10ft of water and 50% in 10-25. Just wondering between the two, what people like for that type of fishing. I do fish with others, so interference can play a role. I also fish around weeds sometimes.

    Thanks.

I’d just keep what you have, you’re not going to gain much of anything by switching.

The wider the beam, the more interference. I had a dual beam for my FL-20 and loved it. I liked it a little more than my proview. A narrower beam will also punch through weeds if you fish in the weeds or over structure. It’ll also give you a better view of the bottom if you’re fishing on a steep break. It’ll give you a stronger return in deep water.

There’s a ton of benefits that go with a narrower beam. With all that said, a guy fishing lotw in Th e main basin alone for walleyes would benefit from a wider beam by seeing a wider area. A crappie fisherman may want a wider beam to find suspended schools of fish.

If they still make the dual beam I’d recommend it.
