Well after looking at both a Vexilar FLX28 and the Marcum LX6s I have converted. I have been a Vexilar guy for 15+ years and decided to give the digital age a try. I hope I don’t regret it……now bring on some ice so I can test this thing out!!!

You wont regret it. They are some neat benefits of running the digital Marcums over the traditional, mechanical style units.

The biggest I would say is having the graph mode. Fishing panfish in heavy weed cover, the graph mode makes it much easier to pick out fish movement in relation to the weeds.

The new shuttle (carry case) for the LX-6 makes it the perfect hole hopper from the digital line.

Graph. Seeing any contour change is huge for bottom huggers.

Immediately know if there is something there vs interference too

I switched in 2012 and I now have two of them!, LX7 and LX3. They are great units and you will love using them. I too had a vexilar for 15+ years and now I wouldn’t dream of going back. I added the lithium ice force battery and you loose half of the weight. Well worth the money. Now If it would just freeze over so we could get on with things out there wink

I made the switch this year as well, from a FL-22 to an LX7. Time will tell if I made a good choice.

not only have I switched but without even trying I’ve switched numerous people the marcums mechanical flasher line.

I still run an lx5. my partner uses a lx6 and its really nice, I just still prefer my 5 so I haven’t made the jump.

I used an fl8 for 2 years, then an fl18. found an vx1 for like 150 bucks and soldthe fl18 for 350. was able to buy a few custom rods then. then I found a lx5 brand new off craigslist for 300 bucks. it just had a messed up battery.

The level of detail that I have gained in the digital Vs mechanical over the last few years has been incredible. A few of the lakes I fish have very deep water panfish bites – often getting gills in 28 to 35 fow. After getting accustom to the display and using for a day, I can immediately distinguish unwanted tiny perch or other non-target and move on. That saves me a lot of time

I think he means that they just do so much more, that if you’re not familiar with the digital units, they can be tough to use. They take a little bit of time on the ice and research to get the most out of them.

That’s the number one concern I get while working shows for Ice Force. People via “hearsay” think they are very complicated. Usually within 5 minutes of walking them through the buttons and functions, they leave with a good understanding of how to operate it efficiently.

Interesting info here. I have seen the lx7 in action and I definitely like the display on the lx7 vs my FL-20 I just can’t jump ship yet. What is an FL-20 worth now anyway used?

Sold my FL-22 to fun the LX7, and I got $425.

(Ultra-pack, cup holder, 2 rod holders, snow cover)

$400 seems reasonable, especially with the season closing in.
