Vexilar Hack – Side Scan Sonar with FL-8

Ever wonder which way the fish went??? Let the handle point the way……
See the pics….. build your own……. If you have the budget for Pan Optics go for it! But for the rest of us drones, here you go……

Ingredients:

1x 1-1/4″ PVC Tee
1x 1-1/4″ 45
4’x 1-1/4″ pvc pipe
1x 1-1/2″ x 1-1/4″ Fernco reducing coupling.

Glue it all together.(make sure the long side of handle points the way the 45 does (directional bearing)
slide the 1-1/2″ frenco over the 45 and tighten..
slide the transducer into the 1-1/4″ end.
stick it in the water and look for lunch! when the school moves, that will show you which way…. saves drilling for them..

Have fun.. and don’t drink the glue or primer…

Any videos of it in action?

or just swing the ducer in the hole. back and forth side to side, as it hits the side of the hole the ducer swings up a bit showing you where the school of fish have moved off to.

There is Also this thing called the Beam Bender that the transducer clips in to doing the same thing.

Where is the ducer cable going? Pinched on the end when you slide it in?
