Does anyone know what changed and what kind of battery is in here? I’m thinking lithium ion and not a LiFePO4.

Says lithium right in the pic. It also says broadband.

Again, LIFEPO4 or Lithium-ion. Two different batteries. I’m suspect broadband is just a wider ducer.

Broadband could be multiple angle adjustments. Why can’t lamen terms be terms be the norm? Then again why can’t cars have the filler for gas be on the same side?

Because then the other side of the pumps would never be used. jester

I bought the Helix 7 last year and I thought that was a game changer!

They claim adjustable cone angle which would explain broadband. I bet Vex website would say, but if not you can call them and talk to anybody you want to from product developers to the owner. They are the most accommodating people on earth!

We’d still be left with people like this.

I saw broadband mentioned in a CHIRP article as a varying frequency so who knows.

Sounds like a version of CHIRP.

The FLX-30 uses a special broad band transducer that offers a wide spectrum of cone angles that vary with each frequency. The multi-frequency system has different characteristics than the single-frequency transducer described here. Broad Band transducers do not have side lobes.

Edit: Disregard. It gives you the option to select from 7 different frequencies.

So here’s my assessment of what it offers over the FLX-28

    – broadband sonar that offers 7 different frequencies. Gives you up to 140 different IR settings. Gives you more choices to dial in a frequency for a particular situation and for better target separation.

    – lithium battery

    – multiple different fixed depth range settings, primarily for deeper water

    – one more zoom setting, 18’

As someone who fishes 100’+ often I can see some value. I’d like to think this transducer could be better than the proview.

If these are lithium, or lithium ion, that’s a bad decision. Terrible cold weather performance.

Ahhh, another overpriced unit that won’t increase the number of fish caught over my 5 year old unit.

If you zoom in on the picture, it says it uses lifepo4 technology, but just says lithium ion on the battery. So not sure what it is!

Wonder how many times Vexilar wants to re-invent the wheel ?
