    Vexilar FL20 vs Marcum M5

Any suggestions on witch one to get I do have the M5 currently but I want some insight on if it would be a benefit to switch to vexilar. Always have run marcums but I had to return the first 2 M5 lithium shuttles this year I’m on number 3 right now it seems to work great just has a little bit more noise than I expected for a brushless motor my cousin has the same thing and his is silent. Thanks for any input!

I wouldn’t switch if it costs you anything. That’s kind of a sideways step as far as technology and features go.

If I was looking for a tradition dial flasher I would always go with Vexilar. Their technology is proven over decades and they don’t fail….

Now, if you have a perfectly good M5 that isn’t giving you any problems, I would keep using that, especially as bucky said, if it costs you anything to switch.

100% agree with the last couple of posts. If upgrading to an flx model than I would go vexilar over marcum. Also, vexilar’s customer service and tech support are awesome.

I have used a buddies Marcum and own one of the first bird 45’s and a FL20. in my opinion both the bird and the vex are easier for my old eyes to read. The bird the easiest. But I love everything about the FL 20

Same advice as many – The M5 which was the LX5 and some other model variant in the middle is a good unit. For flashers, Vexilar is the Toyota model. They just are reliable as all hell, especially the transducers. Marcum does not have that reputation. I’ve heard it is a result of too much power going through the transducers, and transducer quality overall.

All of that said, once I tried an LX6 and a Humminbird Helix I was forever hooked on the graph style. Its just so much more information and so much better target seperation I can’t ever go back to a traditional view. Its night and day
