Soooo pro view or 12*? I watched a video about the gain adjustment to widen the “cone” with the pro view. Seems nicer but like I said don’t fish much. Normal fishing 12-28 fow.

    12* 100%

I would say 12* as well. While some swear by the Pro-View, most swear AT it!

Mathew – If you are in the metro, it wouldn’t hurt to stop in to Vexilar and speak to them about your Tri-Beam (not mentioning your prior correspondence). It may be harder for them to tell you to pound sand to your face….then again, it may not!! I was in there a week or so ago to pick up some odds and ends (fuse holders, charger adapters, etc), and they charged me nothing, and threw in some swag. They are in SW Bloomington, E of 169 a couple miles on Old Shakopee Rd.

Welcome to IDO, and have a great holiday season!

No problem Matthew, I guess we all have those days. My vote is for 12 degree, they’re foolproof and easy. Proviews not so much, 9 degrees is too thin, some think they expand but most didn’t like them. I put mine in storage and bought a 12 for my 28. Welcome, sorry for the sarcasm.

Go to the Bloomington location. The red pucks cracking were a known issue from a batch they had. Mine was 5 years old and they took care of me. I was going to dump my 18 until I got the new puck. It’s sensitively and clean return were 100 times better after the fix

Go to their Bloomington location and bring your unit with you. My guess is they won’t give you a free transducer but will give you a reduce price on a new one. The key is to be calm and work with them. I understand your frustration but being demanding will not help.

I don’t like the Pro View – To me with an FLX28 I couldn’t get it dialed appropriately. I think I’d rather go with the 12 – Might want to be frank with Corey Studer on the phone and just ask his 2c, he’s a sales guy but he’s an honest one

Well, it’s unfortunate, and it sucks. But truth be told, they have by far the best customer service. Vexilar is still by all accounts a local small-ish business and their customer service is a big part of customer loyalty. TBH, I think your expectations of the situation are unreasonable. Could Vexilar had offered to meet you 1/2 way? Sure. But the fact that they didn’t on a 3-4 yr old ducer (defective or not) isn’t going to cause anyone to not buy a Vexilar.

They replaced a cracked tri-beam for me a year ago. That sucks that they are not replacing them anymore. The customer service there is usually awesome.

Not to rehash, but I just found this one. Just cleaning up my ice gear stash, thinking of selling some stuff off. I have a few extra transducers around, in the box. I opened the tri-beam and found this. The thing was used in one tournament lol. Guess I should have opened it sooner.
