Vertical Rod Storage

Instead of starting a new post, I figured I’d follow up with this old thread. I have an ’89 Alumacraft Classic that has no rod storage. So I have added some vertical rod storage like a few have suggested above.

My question is do you keep rods stored in the vertical position while driving down the road at all? That’s my main concern now is when I have my trolling and rigging rods all in the vertical position driving 70mph down the rod, they are moving quite a bit and I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas- I am worried that I could be putting additional stress on the rods?

No, I drive down the road with rods laid down in the bottom of the boat, or in the back of the truck. Too many low signs, bridges, etc…

Once to the landing, then they go vertical.

Wrap one or two bungee cords around your rod rack and lay it in the bottom of the boat. At times I will bungee all the rods together if the water is rough.
