If you could only have one vertical jigging rod, what would it be?

It would not be possible for me to only have one jigging rod.

Like John said can’t happen with one rod. I vertical jig with everything from 1/32 to 1 oz. Can’t do it with one rod.

If forced to pick one jig stick it would be a St Croix LTW 6’8″ M XF.

I like a 6′ to 6’3″ high mod graphite like the Loomis walleye rod or whatever it is called. I don’t like extra-fast; fast for me, medium weight.
Like the others say, tough to pick one for varying conditions/depth/wind/current, but Loomis 6’3″ M F is a good place to start.

Well that’s a loaded question. How much do you want to spend? Most walleye vertical jiggers use a rod in each hand. I wouldn’t recommend anything less than a Fenwick Elite Tech walleye jigging rod (6’6″ ML) if you actually plan on fishing more than a few times a year otherwise go somewhere like Gander Mt. or Cabelas and buy their $80 walleye combos out of their close-out barrels. I have a pair of St. Croix 6’3″ ML Avids that are great for 1/16th oz to 3/8 oz jigs.

I have used everything from St. Croix Legend Extreme’s in a 6’8″ M XF which was a very nice rod down to a Gander Guide Series cheapo… I had broke 3 of the St. Croix Legend Extreme’s in the same spot in a matter of 6 months. I have now switch to using Denali Kovert 6’10” Medium rod that I really like. It’s super light and I like the micro guides. Also been using a Denali N2 6’8 medium that is my favorite rod. Paired with a Stradic Ci4+ 1000 is hands down my favorite.

If I had to pick just one rod I would go with my 6’3″ St. Croix Eyecon. Best jigging rod I have ever used.
