So they maid a few new rules for us one buck NO spikes in a few WMUs everyone can use a crossbow you take 4 deer 1 buck 3 doe a random 4 day doe season then novice weekend/youth weekend “stupid it doesn’t teach kids anything besides push the woods with your buddies” then our rifle season then regular muzzler loader season and bow season runs through all of them and ends when muzzleloader ends so almost 3 months of none stop deer season idk I like the one buck rule and crossbow we have way too many doe we’re I live in Vermont the biggest buck I’ve got is a 6 pointer 167 lbs awesome deer for the islands not the monster like they go on and on about out in the western states! What does everyone think of just some of the new rules?

Not currently or ever have I lived there so I have no comment. I do agree with the crossbow changes though. Would love MN to go that route but I still enjoy bow hunting!

Minnesota’s crossbow rules are fine the way they are, use during the archery season allowed only by over 60 and the disabled. There is no reason to switch to an unlimited use of crossbows during archery season, if you want to bow hunt, get a bow and have at it. Nobody can convince me it’s too hard, I picked up a bow for the first time at age 45 and I’m still loving it. If it’s too hard for you, there is already an alternative–firearms season.

We also have (for the most part) a 1 buck rule which I don’t want to see changed. If you want to control the population, you don’t do it by shooting more bucks anyway. You do it by taking out does.

The DNR here (and pretty much everywhere) is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Unless there are unlimited doe and bonus tags, hunters are b!tching there are “too many deer”. Then we get a bad winter and hunters are b!tching about “DNR mismanagement” because they gave out too many permits. Same goes for antler point restrictions. It’s a no win situation.

I agree way too many people look for horns and yes I do the same some times and we don’t have DNR we have Vermont fish and game that regulates the season it’s ALOT different but the crossbow thing I like I was getting sick of bringing my quick release and this and that and bring a chair now my hands are full can pull back so that’s y I got a crossbow make it so much easier no drawing wiyel you have the chance and might spook him or her off but everyone has there preference when it comes to hunting!
